There are lots of nethack servers running right now. There's the alt.org nethack server, and I also run a nethack server (telnet to nethack.kraln.com)
Also, my entry to the Ludumdare 48 competition was a nethack/roguelike thingy, so I am getting a kick out of this post:

I've been to Video Games Live several times, often at Wolftrap in VA. The house is constantly full to capacity, everyone has a great time, and the volunteers all say the same thing: "This is such a bigger turnout than _insert_classical_music_here_".
Classical music is great and wonderful to listen to, but you shouldn't be surprised it doesn't draw the under-40 crowd.
Isn't that missing the entire point? Or is the do-not-track specification one of those Orwellian-titled things whereby the net effect is exactly the opposite of the name?
I make a point to grab a box of "Laver", which is roasted seaweed in salt and oil, every time I go to the local Asian grocer. It's delicious, and way better than corn chips, while still taking care of my need for crunch.
If the submitter had actually read the article, he'd know that while the molecules in question *are* sugar, they *are not* sweet and in fact are arguably not even saccharides.
Lots of people commenting that Microsoft is missing the point: Apps.
But they're not missing the point. Anything written for.NET won't need a recompile for the new architecture. In fact, I'd imagine that's part of their plans for world domination: Imagine the power of targeting one platform, and having your stuff run on Xbox360 (console), Winodws Phone 7 (mobile / tablet), and Desktop (x86/arm)?
I don't think they're getting the credit they deserve, here.
I put a few months into something that might be called a tetris clone for the iPhone and iPad. It's not in the store because it too closely resembles tetris. It has a grid, and some square blocks. They fall, sometimes.
Total hogwash. If you want to play it, send me your device id (slashdot-tetris-clone@kraln.com)
Have you looked at Jolicloud? It offers support for Poulsbo out of the box with no dicking around. After six months of a mostly unusable Dell Mini 10, Jolicloud installed and just worked. Fixed the wifi bugaboos too.
Maybe if those other platforms you mentioned had sdks and documentation nearly as nice.
I've developed for blackberry, and for android, and it's a crapshoot.
I've been waiting since April 14th for my latest application to be 'approved'. It's called iTakeCredit, and I submitted it around the time that those new appstore ads (with the credit card terminal) went live.
I sent a promo code to appcrave for them to review an iPhone app I wrote -- they replied back essentially saying "No guarantee, unless you give us $50. We don't publish bad reviews if you give us money. Advertising starts at $400, and you get a free good review"
Yick. Bad taste in my mouth.
There are two things that people jailbreak their phones for: Running software that Apple doesn't want on the phones (backgrounder, some emulators, tethering) and running software that was downloaded/purchased illegally. Honestly, such a small minority of people jailbreak only to unlock their sim cards that I won't even consider them.
As to the former: Fine, have your slowed down devices, play your roms (also illegal, btw), violate your service agreements, that's on you.
As to the latter: You are stealing. You are stealing food from the tables of the developers, and they don't like it. If you keep cannibalizing the talent on the app store, it will cease to create stuff that's interesting.
I wrote a post-mortem on my blog discussing some of this stuff: http://www.kraln.com/?p=108. It really makes me sick.

And moonlight definitely supports netflix and DRM'd videos... oh wait. No, no it doesn't.

You still don't get access to sockets on WP7, so you can't really do a proper terminal emulator.

Torchlight?
I for one welcome our new overcharged virus overlords.

That's one small tweet for a man, One giant tweet for mankind. FTFY.

My page for it is here: http://www.soulstrewn.com/itakecredit
It's not that complex an application, and my games and other stuff have gone through in the past much more rapidly. This is getting to be just silly.

Steal: transitive verb: to take or appropriate without right or leave and with intent to keep or make use of wrongfully Sounds like stealing to me!
