I have an E3000 which is simultaneous Dual-Band, has Gig-E ports, and a USB port that can be used to set up a file share or a network printer. I have my Vizio internet TV and an HTPC connected to the 5GHz radio, and am able to stream Netflix and 720p video files off a file server just fine. All the other devices use the 2.4GHz band.
I'm curious about this also. I watch netflix using the App on my Vizio TV, I haven't noticed any indication that something is from "Starz" vs anywhere else. My kid watches tons of Disney Channel shows, and we've been doing fine the past year without cable.
Amazing! I'm sure the obvious fact that social kids have more to say, and thus text more, won't stop some overzealous parents from panicking at this news report and taking away the cell phone of their social awkward kid who probably wasn't getting any anyway.
I'm guessing this could become an extinct toy soon. My daughter is proud of her dry cookies and muffins, now her imagination and learning will be delayed until she's big enough to touch a real oven.
I was using the wrong mission statement, sorta! I had a hunch this was an MD5 hash, but when pasting the text from the Cyber Command Fact Sheet, the hash didn't match. Apparently the "correct" version is missing the comma after "synchronizes" and uses a space instead of a hyphen in "full spectrum". So close, but no hash.

It wasn't on the wiki yesterday when Wired posted the story. If you view the Revision history on the article, you will see the Mission portion has been heavily edited late last night and this morning.
I find today's assumption that a Wiki is a static and never changing reference material pretty appalling..
The "protection from bogus accusations" is why the police have dash cameras, etc. There's a tv show that airs a sloppy drunk woman who later tried to say the cop sexually assaulted her, when it was pretty obvious she just couldn't stand. If footage shows abuses by the cops, oh no it's a different story. And the cops/prosecutors/judges all cover for each other, I think there was a newscast (or maybe just a youtube vid) recently that showed the abuses some guy received when he simply asked about filing a complaint against a cop.
I think it's more of a double edged sword. We idolize the rich and building up celebrities, stars, etc. But then we pounce at the change to bring them down and drag 'em through the mud. See all the celebrity gossip mags and how much attention is given to Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan's fall from grace.
So we love success (mainly because we hope to succeed our selves), but then love to tear people down from their pedestal.
I've always been a fan of manual cars. Every car since I was 16 has been a stick, plus they're just more fun to drive. I remember automatics being a "premium" over manuals. Now imagine my surprise when I looked into the Infiniti G37 only to find that the 6speed starting price is several grand MORE than all the other trim levels (with autos).
I guess car manufactures are catering to people who can drive, but now it's a "premium" option. Wild.
"Recently, Verizon Wireless security and external experts detected attacks from an IP address associated with the 4Chan family of web sites that was disruptive to our customers and our network. To protect both, we eliminated connectivity to the IP address. At no time was 4Chan itself blocked. Ongoing network security team monitoring has now determined there is no longer an immediate threat. Connectivity to those sites is being restored later today."
I signed up for the trial, interested if I get a response. Guess I need to start looking into getting IPv6 working on a DD-WRT based router. Hopefully it doesn't break my parents' internet too bad...
Probably not, I think I remember a few months ago someone at Mozilla speaking out against Google over privacy issues and recommending people change their default to Bing. It's just a "default" search provider, not like they're making Yahoo the "only" search provider.
Speaking of mobile devices - as long the option to change the default is still there, then this isn't a big deal. It's when, say, Microsoft makes a deal with Verizon to remove ALL search options on my Blackberry, leaving Bing as the ONLY option, then these sorts of deals become a serious annoyance.
It sounds like there are multiple issues going on here that are noticed because he is the new guy and is bringing a fresh perspective to the workplace. Granted he needs to learn that some down time and idle chatter is perfectly acceptable and 'normal'. However if the work quality is crap, then it seems that the group needs to find a better balance of productivity vs burning time on the clock. Or he could just work with a bunch of nimrods who don't know what they're doing so they just waste everybody's time.
Management should get involve here and encourage better quality work, hopefully in a positive manner instead of over reacting, bringing the hammer, and just pissing everybody off.
If I recall there were TONS of Bush-monkey images out there. Not to mention the whole search the word "failure" and Bush's bio being the first result thing. Ahh good ole double standard.
I didn't even realize a monkey was racially offensive until people started whining about it recently.
You're correct, this article is referring to network REDUNDANCY for connections to offices. The word "backup" in the title is a bit misleading as most will immediately think of data backups.
My guess is the T1's into an office are from the same provider instead of two as a fall-back.
How do you think the cables are run to the jack in your office? I guarantee they were punched down by hand. Ask your boss if he's the IT guy or are you... You can always pick up a cheap tester to check your crimping, for peace of mind if you need it.

Looks like Verizon responded pretty fast via twitter: @Verizon Verizon PolicyBlog Post: 4Chan Not "Blocked" -- Protecting Our Customers & Our Network http://policyblog.verizon.com/BlogPost/697/ProtectingOurCustomersandOurNetwork.aspx

Ham? Isn't bacon made from ham? I love bacon.
