  1. Re:Can electronic form be a binding document? on Napster Bans Metallica Fans · · Score: 1

A legally binding contract can be oral and sealed with a handshake, it's just hard to prove that it actually happened. Legally binding contracts do not need any sort of signature, just proof that all parties involved agreed on the contract. If Napster says this person has to click that "I agree" to use the software, than that is legally binding.

  2. Re:distributed file sharing on Open Source Napster: Gnutella · · Score: 1

I have tried this before and it doesn't work. I don't know why it doesn't, but for some reason Napster must not look at just the .mp3 extension. I tried naming a text file test.mp3 with the message this is a test, but no one could see it in my library of files, even though they could see the mp3's. I even tried rebooting and starting up Napster to no avail. It was a bummer since it would have been a great file trading tool. No matter anyways since Napster was fucking banned from my college, but that's a another rant in itself.

There it is the cap heard around the world! -- Teee heeee heee, that's be fun. Getting paid to play computer games it'd be a dream come true!

  7. Psychology not a science on Men Playing as Women · · Score: 1
You're right psychology isn't even considered a science. It's not even in the science department at my school. This is mainly because a psychologist can ask a question in a certain way and influence the results quite easily.

Also here's a mind trip for all of you, some of the men that said they play as women could actually be women that say they are men that play as women in online games. Makes you think huh?

Forget burritos and ice cream we should have a Dilbert drink. Mucho caffeine, and they could even put some protein and vitamins in there to make it nutritional. It would also have to be a drink that goes well with ramen and pizza. So what do you guys think?

I totally agree with you that the net opens up possibilities for people who used to be "anti-social" It's very hard to go to a party and just mingle and make friends, but on AIM or ICQ it's easy to make some net friends. This is mainly because many of the people on the net are a tad lonely looking for people to talk to too.

Then when I'm done I can be done socializing, just close the program and whoosh, no one to bother you. If you didn't like the person you can put them on the ignore list and never talk to them again. Whereas in r/l you run into them over and over.

We should have an online poll of "Does the net make you more social?" What do you think?

  10. Re:Ha, more bullshit from the government on How many hours did you work this week? · · Score: 1
What about college students too? I work around 15 hours a week, but I also am taking 15 units, and 12 of those come from my Calculus, Chemistry and Biology courses. So counting just class and work I'm gone about 40 hours a week just for class and work. Then throw homework on top of it and it's at least 50-60 hours a week. On bad weeks it's upwards of 80 hours a week.

The only problem is that some days I don't have very much time to play games. Many times the big decision is, do I play Torment, UT, HLTFC or HLCS. It honestly is a tough decision for me, especially since I also like to play my Neo-Geo emulator too.

  11. Re:Priced for when they'll come out. on Microsoft's X-Box Specs Revealed · · Score: 3
I'm beginning to think that some of the people here need to take a basic economics class, or at least learn a tiny bit about how products are sold.

Probably around the time that this X-Box comes out 1.0 ghz chips will go for around 300-400 dollars at the most. I predict around 200-300 dollars. The thing is it doesn't cost Intel or AMD 200-300 dollars to produce the chip. It costs more like 50 dollars, which they sell to vendors for $100 which then sell to us for $200-$300.

This means that Microsoft will probably be able to get the chip for around $100 or $150 at the most, and the HD will be around $20 (4gb harddrive in two years will be tiny) 56k modems will be like 10 dollars and the RAM will be like $20 so it will only cost around from $150-200 to produce is my prediction. So M$ takes a loss, but make it up with game licenses as mentioned in other posts.

  12. Everyone has time in HS! on Replacing SAT with LEGOs · · Score: 1
I totally agree with you, but how many people here are in high school right now? In just about any HS in the US you don't really have to do homework to even get B's in school.

BTW, my senior year in HS, I worked 20 hours a week, plus did the debate team, plus got a 3.7 GPA and did a senior project which included 50 hours of community service, a ten page paper on a subject relating to the service, and a ten minute speech on what I did for my community service.

Now, if anyone tells me that they don't have enough time to do work in HS, then they are just lazy or something. HS is cake and if someone can't survive there then there is no way in hell they are going to survive college

    3. It would have to be on at least a HDTV, ever try to read 12 point font on a TV, it ain't easy and hard on the eyes too!

  14. The Reason Behind All This on Clemson University Bans Free Long Distance Sites · · Score: 1

If the school truly needed money for more bandwidth for the school then they should just raise their fees by a few dollars. I know from reading that an OC3 line costs around 130k a year to have, so at a school like mine with 30,000 students all that would be required would be a $2.50 fee increase each semester and then the OC3 line would be paid for. The security with or without dialpad didn't change when dialpad came into existence. The firewall or lack of firewall at the school, previously, was already allowing some ports to be open otherwise dialpad wouldn't have worked in the first place. I know it doesn't go through firewalls unless they have a certain data port open on them. I know this, because I have tried it. The real reason is that the school is mad that students are not using their school long distance cards and paying a fortune for it. In my dorms I have to pay 15 cents a minute to call long distance and only in my own state. Out of state can be upwards of 25 cents a minute. Compare this to AT&T only costing 7 cents a minute to anywhere is the US. The school is losing a little bit of money on poor college students not having long distance bills anymore, what a shame.
