I was kind thinking along the same lines, if they force Apple to make OS X run on commodity hardware can MS then be forced to make windows run on oh say, IBMs power processors? Sounds like a dangerous precedent to me. Its companies like psystar that are running America into the ground. Next thing you know you will be seeing Sorny sold at Best Buy.
have some sort of confidentiality agreement. If they do not live up to that agreement then they should be held liable. If they promise to keep my data confidential then it is their responsibility to implement the necessary security to actually keep that data confidential. I especially think hotels, car rental agencies, airlines or anyone else that requires that I transmit a cc number in some form or another, need to be audited and approved for security on a regular basis.
But that would destroy their ridiculously high salaried business model and they would have to live like normal people with normal salaries! How would they afford their cocaine and prostitute addictions? Geez, think of the prostitutes man!
Maybe they are keeping it a secret out of respect for the aliens, or the aliens pay them to keep their existence quiet. You know, to keep paparazzi away.
Unfortunately impeachment is not about who got rich and who didnt. Its about who took an oath to uphold the constitution and didnt live up to that oath. Whether Cheney was pulling the strings or not, Bush took the oath, it is his responsibility to uphold that oath and hold his staff to that oath. In the end "It sucks to be the king".
Visio is ok if you are only writing code for MS os's, if you live in an environment of language/os diversity it is an awful tool. The last usuable version of visio was 2000 (right after MS acquired it). Since then it has become mostly unusable unless you are coding for VC or.NET.
It sounds like we can just replace Staples with Circuit City and we would be living in the past. I hope this doesnt cause Staples to have the same fate as Circuit City!
I really doubt Obama is going to actually change anything during his presidency (he seems to realize this also), there really isnt enough time for a single president to actually change anything (at least not positively). What I am hoping he does is start some intelligent discussions on the problems we are facing, after 8 years of the "well, it seemed like a good idea at the time" administration, America as a nation needs to step back take a breather and figure out exactly where we want to go, as a nation. He talks about the real problems in the country, lobbiest and the diminishing voice of the common man, failing wars on everything, an economy that only includes the top 2% wealthiest and excludes everyone else, the dangers of outsourcing and the need to keep Americans employed. It's not that he is going to solve all these problems but finally we may get someone in Washington who is willing to expose these problems so we can finally have an open debate on them, this is the right road we need to go down. Every time I listen to him speak I think, yeah! thats what we NEED to talk about.
Bullshit, if you are running all of your apps under wine you are still running windows. Case closed.
Do you honestly think developers are asking customers what they are running? No they are looking at marketing and sales figures to determine which OS to target. As long as wine exists everyone will assume that people want windows. Has Adobe ever sent you a survey asking if you are running under wine? Or do they see that they are selling x more copies of Photoshop for Windows and no one is clamoring for Photoshop for Linux. Adobe will consider Linux when their sales for Windows versions of Photoshop significantly declines, then they will ask customers why they arent buying Photoshop for Windows anymore. If the answer is not "Because there isnt a Linux version available" then linux loses. My guess is the only reason MS hasnt sued the wine people out of existence is exactly for this reason. Wine is doing everything they can to make Windows look more popular to the money people (the people who actually decide which systems to support).
More than likely it will just be another charge tacked on to your bill if you have to appear in court for any reason.
go in the opposite direction and "require" everyone to take drugs to enhance their gaming experience. That would level the field also.
is the fact that anyone in the company can see customer passwords in the first place. So much for security.
If I buy a game, apply a nodvd patch, then resell that game with the nodvd patch as a selling point. Think I would get sued by the game company?

Its only $200 stop blowing the price out of proportion.

Dont underestimate the government.
I think you can be pretty safe in adding "to the best of my knowledge" to every and all statements made by chinese officials.

WHY has this become so entrenched with the upper echelons of the US Government?
Three words:
Quick, easy, money
Who wants to bet that this guy is building a new addition on his house?
Same old, same old FUD tactics we see from GOP since 1969.
There, fixed that for you.
Ok, point taken. He wont be able to change anything in his first term, I guess I could have been clearer on that.
Im interested, who do you consider to be the "greatest of them all"?

You are actually trying to equate Windows to a BMW..........(brain explodes)
A more accurate analogy would be. Windows is more like a Pinto, and Linux is more like a VW bus.
There aint no BMW's in the OS world (yet).

I bet they find they could not win a super bowl back then either.
You mean like, trickle-down economics?
Everyone is trying to convince us their business is the backbone of American Economics (oil, airline, IP, microsoft, etc, etc, etc) lately.
Like everything else that this administration has done in the last 8 years. It just doesnt seem very well though out.
how will they manage file encryption.
umm, assume you are a terrorist and throw you in jail?
