Not going to happen. Legally downloadable RIAA mp3s with no DRM will never happen, so get used to it. Meanwhile, if you really want those mp3s, buy the songs from the iTunes store then burn a music CD-RW, then rip the songs from that CD-RW to mp3s. Yes it's a pain, but it's the only way to do it right now.
iTunes lets you listen to your songs on three computers.
Forget about lugging CDs around too -- get a HDD based music player and join the 21st century.
They should just drop the iPod only restrictions for the MP3 player supported.
There is no such restriction. iTunes supports a plug-in system that allows other players to work fine. The menufacturers of those players need only to provide said pug-ins. Some do.
Those 1st gen 5GB owners might be looking to upgrade, but the rest are good enough to keep for a long time, or at least 3-4 years until the rechargable battery wears out.
Or until Apple comes out with the video iPod that can play mpegs and DVD images...and then ups the HDD capacity over several years so you can keep storing more and more of your DVD collection on it...or integrates a FM trasmitter so you can listen to it over your car stero without add-ons...or makes it more and more like a full-featured PDA.
They can do lots of things to create an upgrade cycle, methinks.
I would wager that a majority of thier wealth is in stock -- especially for Gates, Allen, Bezos and the like. With the rebound in the stock market, they've seen significant increases. Particularly Bezos -- Amazon's stock has been soaring and his net worth is up more than 100%.
Plus, that 10% average return figure is bogus -- or at least has been for a few years now. Just being non-negative has been a goal for a lot of mutual funds of late. Also consider, if you have $5000 to invest, it's a lot easier to get a better percentage return that if you have $5 billion. You would need to get a decent return on every last dollar of those billions -- not an easy task, especially when a lot of it will be tied up in safe investments like bonds or cash.
I agree that you should look past the hype, but at least Tecmo has an excellent track record and this game doesn't have to deal with the "movie tie-in curse".
The 10 CD limit applies only to music bought from the iTMS. If you make a recording (per your example), then it (obviously) has no restrictions placed on it.
Oh, yeah. No doubt. The mostly Linux shop I work at has been buying up G4 laptops like crazy for a while now. Everyone from IT to programmers are getting them. I think we've even got some XServes in the racks now as well.
Sounds like a very good idea, but I'll go ahead and predict that you'll never be able to make Spidey be "bad". I'm sure Marvel has some sort of veto clause they can use to prevent content that they deem inappropriate for the character, and I'm sure that having Spider-man commit crimes, harm innocents and police offiers, etc would be deemed inappropriate.
No Brittany at all, actually, from what I've heard. No way to browse without iTunes, sorry. But any offering that includes "The The" and "The Church" is good enough for me...and it'll only get a bigger selection as time goes on.
For anyone who wants to get a feel for how a game of Galactic Civilization might go, you can check out two gameplay transcripts that the game's creator made to demonstrate it. They include screenshots and are fairly interesting, especially since in the first game the creator of the game unexpectedly is outwitted by the AI that he wrote! Check them out:
Take a look at this gameplay summary (with screenshots) that the creator of the game wrote up to demonstrate gameplay. He is handily winning and is confident he'll dominate soon, but he ends up losing due to an extremely long-term computer AI strategy. Good read.
seriously though - was it like last week 9700PRO became available? what's up with this break-neck card-releasing? I didn't think it was christmas yet...
The 9700 Pro has been available for about six months.
I cannot understand how anyone wouldn't go for the widescreen format
There are these pieces of furniture called "entertainment centers" that our wives make us buy for the family room (or den, or bedroom, or whatever) so we can close the doors and make the TV magically disappear to make the room more visually appealing. These things are made to hold a 4:3 TV. Might as well fill up the space vertically and horizontally with a large 4:3 TV instead of just filling it horizontally with a smaller 16:9 TV.
So every day, twice a day at exactly 10am and 3pm, I'd get a call with no answer. Since it was out of area, Verizon couldn't specifically block it (or so they told me), but they offered this service.
Consider: easy way to get five more bucks a month from your customers: set up an automated dialer to bug them until they'll gladly subscribe to your service to block the calls.:)
Check out Anandtech's review linked to in the main story. They compare image quality. Right now it's advantage ATI. Their AA and AF looks better and is faster to boot.
Just got back from the 6:00am showing of the movie and I was pretty impressed.
You probably fell asleep 20 minutes into it and dreamed a better movie. It's the only explanation.
I'll likely get Amped 2 when it's released, never thought enough of Amped 1 to buy it though.
It's been released. Pretty sweet game too, as long as you don't mind a challange.

Also, don't forget about audio books. They can be 100MB or more in size each.

Probably the last one, I would assume.

Sounds like you watched that PBS special on the Greeks last night...
Check the pdf linked to in the story. It specifically mentions adding dynamic range checking to vectors and strings for C++0x. Good idea, I think.

Scott Kurtz, who does the online comic Player vs. Player, apparently has the same thought and is able to reconcile it.

I know you're just being funny, but to those that might not know: the game is already gold and will be shipping March 25.

:)
There is also a second gameplay report where he does win.
