There will be scenes with CG tentacles -- some of these are in the trailer as far as I can tell -- but Raimi stated he was going to use real tentacles (aka puppetry) whenever possible. My guesses are that in the close shots we're seeing puppetry, but in the long shots (Ock entering the window, climbing the clock tower) it's CG.
I'll agree that I'm not a huge fan of multiple actions per button either, but on devices where space is limited you sometimes have no choice. Even then, the iPod's alternate actions are more shortcuts than anything else.
Next time you find yourself in this situation, try this: turn on the passenger light so you can see the LCD. Then figure out how to turn on the backlight and/or change the backlight settings. Hint: try the settings menu.
I still feel I shouldn't need to be familiar with the manual to access such a simple feature, despite what my friend may or may not have done to the default settings.
Right. You should always be able to use any device in the dark even when you've never used it before and even if someone has changed the default settings. Sure. Even if there was a button labeled 'backlight' you wouldn't have been able to see it!
I was trying to figure this out myself. As I read it, these are not necessarily poor needy kids in the hospital, they could very well be richer than me! I think they would be better served to focus on kids that can't afford this stuff themselves.
Again, I don't know why we're talking about this in a thread about a videogame, but I'll humor you.
Please read those articles again. They do not apply to the whole country. Plus, the first clearly states that one such anti-evolution effort failed.
I never said we did not have relgion classes in school, just that the creation story is not taught as fact in schools -- this is prohibited by the requirement of separation of church and state. US schools do teach on the cultural and religous beliefs of other systems -- mostly in history classes, but also in religon classes (especially at the college and university level).
Do not be disturbed. The school system in the US is not that different than schools in other western countries. But that doesn't make for sensationalist stories, does it?
You're changing the argument here, and I'm not sure why. But the theory of evolution and the big-bang theory are taught in schools. And as far as I'm aware, the creation story is not taught in public schools anywhere in the US.
From the bit I caught, the commerical shows rendered action -- not indicative of the actual game. Real in-game graphics and action is like the videos you referenced.
the destruction witnessed during the American Civil War wouldn't have happened
had the American colonies remained a part of the Empire, Britain would've been so strong that the Germans wouldn't have dared fight them (and us) in the 20th Century and World War I and II would've never happened
Wow. It's cool how you can see into these alternate universes and know the outcomes. I wish I had that power. Revisionist history works both ways.
Ease of development has almost nothing to do with hardware design -- it has to do with APIs. If MS provides a familar DirectX API to developers, then it doesn't matter what the hardware underneath looks like.
Right now? None, as far as I know. But it's an open spec and you will certainly see support for it in other devices soon. Evidence: Sony's PSP handheld will support AAC.
-Speaking of Gollum, how does he become buddies with Shelob? I kinda got the impression that she was an "eat first and ask questions later" spider. She should have eaten Gollum the first time they met.
They are not buddies. Gollum simply knows where she lives and leads the hobbits into her lair, knowing they'll be eaten. At no time does he make some kind of deal with her, as you seem to be suggesting.
-What do the orcs eat? There's no food in Moria, and Mordor is barren, and wherever the orcs go they slash and burn. At least in Warcraft the orcs are required to build little farms.
This question never occured to me, personally. But your thesis that there is no food in Moria or Mordor is not fact. Rats, mushrooms in Moria perhaps? Mordor may be barren, but that doesn't preclude some animals/plants from living there. You're really stretching for holes now.
If they can't figure out to push the VOTE button to count their selection, maybe they shouldn't be voting anyway...
It's one line for me. (at full-screen 1600x1200).

Heh. That went over my head. Didn't even think about it. Of course, I'm from South Carolina, so figure that one out. :)

Nope. No accent. He was born in New York. Check it here.
He was given the accent in the cartoon for some unknown reason.
I don't think that's how it works. The billboard displays an ad, it doesn't hijack your radio station.
...it retires to a nice warm spot in Hell!
Maybe that was a little harsh.
Hey...it sounds like you just watched the Pirates of the Carribbean DVD!
Exactly. They're testing CPUs not video cards. Keep the bottleneck on the CPU.
I bet you have an 8-track player at home as well. I had a portable CD player in the 80s. Time to trade up.

It's Cardboard Tube Samurai! Not Ninja, you insensitive clod!!
I'm pretty sure that means processor hours or machine hours. Two hours for the entire array would be rediculous.

So what was your aguement again?

...that the iTunes store was a way to sell more iPods. Now we see what they meant! :)
Maybe I'm under or oversexed, but those does anybody else notice that the two glowing harddrives look like breasts?
My money's on 'under'.

Yeah, except where do you stick in the DVD???
