    MS has made Windows so simple that switching to another OS other than a Mac would be hard for them.

    Windows? Simple? Do me a favour. Windows is NOT simple, Windows is FAMILIAR. And as soon as it does something unfamiliar the vast majority of users are lost and require the help of a geek to figure it out.

    Yes that's their historical beliefs i.e. not anymore. Check this out. This is an acceptance by the hierarchy of something that I was taught at Catholic school in the 1980s; namely that evolution was God's method of populating the world. I don't care what the American Christians think. They aren't the whole of Christianity, or even a major part of it.

    That came about because capitalist lack of oversight led to the formation of huge corporations that if they go bust will devastate large sections of the workforce. Either you pay to keep these companies afloat with the promise of eventual repayments of the costs when the economy picks up or else you pay the welfare of all the people put out of work.

    Off the top of my head: lack of malware, lower hardware requirements, no OS cost added to the cost of the PC.

    In an ideal world however we live in a world where there are millions of Win32-only apps and the cost of rewriting them is prohibitive. People are not going to leave Windows if their software doesn't work, and that doesn't mean things like Office and Photoshop, it means much more obscure stuff.

    Until Linux or another suitable OS can flawlessly run Win32 apps and drivers the cost of migration will be too prohibitive for most organisations that depend on Win32-only applications.
