Idiot, we're not talking about using Google as a search engine, we're talking about running an OS over your Internet pipe. Last I checked, mounting / over a 33.6K link was slow.
How is something like this going to run on non-broadband? MS can compete there because, well, you bought a real PC with a real OS. Google's going to be heavily reliant on bandwidth if they do anything more than an über-lightweight Linux GUI. You could argue that the non-broadband people don't matter, but they're still a significant piece of market share.
I'm glad to RTFA and see people like Eugenia or Steph the Geek not on the list, HOWEVER, wtf is Paris Hilton, LISA FSCKING SIMPSON, or Aleks Krotoski on the list? Did they run out at 6 or 7 geeks, and needed filler? Paris Hilton is described as "She might look trendy on the outside, but inside this girl is all binary." WTF?
Wrong. People DO want to be sheep. How many do you know that willingly trade freedom for security? People don't want to think; they've been educated for years not to. Philosophers have removed the cause-effect link, and so the large majority of people cannot distinguish between a man-made disaster and a natural one. My only solace is that I'll be worm-food by the time the end comes.
Geez, I thought "edgy" would imply some pr0n... this is just a brown ubuntu login screen. What's so fscking "edgy" about that?

You really think all those will happen, or that there will BE a Google Earth in 100 years? The suburbs will grow, the oceans will rise, the deserts will expand, and the world will continue its downward descent into barbarism as China and the Middle Eastern countries mop up the US and Europe, only to collapse under the weight of their own savagery. In 100 years, it will be illegal to have a computer.
Reminds me of the old "frog and scorpion" or "Navajo and the snake" stories... someone gets together with a known enemy (OSS advocates cozying up to Apple), and then later, when the enemy screws them over, they get all indignant and surprised.
How do you revoke someone's fingerprint? Issue them a new one in case of identity fraud? Token + PW is the best way: something you have and something you know, proves that you are you.
My favorite quote on this was from a StarTrek:TNG, when someone locks himself into a room with Data and pulls a gun on him. Data's response: "I assume that handprint scanner will open the door whether you are conscious or not."
The landfill, and the Texas-sized mat of floating plastic garbage in the Pacific Ocean would like to have a word with you over your use of the term 'disposable'.
There's "Sales Engineers", and "Level One Engineers", and god only know what else. Level one is button pushing, they're TECHNICIANS - people with technical experience, who do what they're told. Then are the real ENGINEERS, who design things (the buttons that the technicians push). Then there are ARCHITECTS, who form all the stuff into a cohesive whole.
There is no "Systems Engineer II", or "Support Engineer III" - you are a technician. Push buttons, don't think.
Finally, MS will kill you off. You think 380 million is something they'll even NOTICE? In return, lets see, they get.. your source code, YAST, AppArmor, mindshare, and info on your business.
It's called Exchange and OWA.

She also has the whole lesbian thing going on as well, for extra geek cred.

Is all that content actually valuable, other than the pr0n ?

After all, they're running Ubuntu. And what is a 'zine scene' ? Is this 1992? /hippies
The Scouring of the Shire was too damning a criticism of socialism for Hollywood to let it play.
This isn't news, nor is it really even funny. Who hasn't done this?
Look around for 'peep', this use audio of 'natural sounds' to indicate activity.
Corporations that pay media companies money sometimes affect their programming content. More at a 11.

Lets see, theres a box to type text, and you hit search, and you get some results. Next?
How is this revolutionary?

Isn't this the same old trick as the titanium-based paint they developed over there to break down the pollution into harmless dust or something?
meta-dupe?
Aren't most people running OpenNTP these days?

"I don't care if I get modded down for this" is a sure indication of a troll.
... "I want to bring up this subject to discuss intelligently". Dude, this is SLASHDOT.
For added trollerization, the line
If you can afford a 100 MBit private network, why not just buy an off the shelf solution? Geek cred?
