To clarify: I'm a professional PHP developer but finding the language doesn't grow with me as a grow as a developer. Looking into RoR but the hype scares me (memories of Java).

Those are all valid concerns, although with some heavy Perl bias. Of course, the PHP problems pointed out are generally being worked on - but you have to move slowly because of the installed base (who also generally don't upgrade very often).
That said, I am definitely in the market for a new language to build sites with. Perl ain't it as I've been there and done that. Great language but I would rather maintain/fix crappy PHP sites than crappy Perl sites.
He didn't say *he* would - he simply stated that his government has a track record of releasing citizens via extradition without evidence and it probably wouldn't matter which powerful sovereign nation requested it.
My 'small business' does. We're growing (exploding) but we're too small for full-blown SAP. Where do we turn to for software solutions in that space? Custom code or Windows pre-built solutions. Just wishing there was more choice as everything seems to be based on large business.
Slightly off-topic, but there are a lot of business areas ignored in the OSS world. Finance is also among things like inventory control and warehouse management solutions. I'm sure there is plenty of custom code running on Linux or BSD boxes out there - but a good option doesn't exist unless it's in Windows. I'm sure there are other business itches that could be scratched.
And the saddest aspect is that teenagers always have and always will be having sex. Denial of information about sex only causes pregnancies and the spread of STDs - and now cancer!
As a somewhat longtime user, believe me that the pro-Apple bias has been a long and slow evolution of the site. Still probably even debatable that it is pro-Apple since so many kinds of people makeup the readership.
There are actually valid reasons for a lot of the Apple love and I've even found myself coming around to the Cult of Apple's view. This kind of behavior from them, though, really makes me want to back off. I've been contemplating the purchase of an Apple - but is this really the future of computing? A theoretical Apple dominated industry could be very bad.
Would mod you up if I could, though I don't like the fact that you play down torture because you feel you went through worse in training, though. Then again, I'm just a plain old citizen.
An important reason Apple and the 'Nixes are able to gain market in the first place is because Microsoft was (barely) held in check in the 90's with the anti-trust lawsuit. This gave enough room for the competition to grow and it's been a good thing.
There is not as much of a benefit to the community-at-large with a fee-based access system. Free city-wide wireless coverage means that anyone, with relatively little cost for an older computer or laptop can have access to the same information that the more privilaged have had access to for over a decade. In time, along with the proper resources to access, education on how to use the Internet and encouragement through public relations, provide a more educated and informed populace. That should be a benefit, correctd? That is, unless keeping the populace under-informed is what we want as a society.
Are these the same 71% that voted in a leader who doesn't believe (or says that he doesn't believe) that global warming is real? Or are these the 71% that voted for the other guys or didn't vote at all?

That's a *Mambo* hack attempt, not a *PHP* hack attempt.

Can the Market get me some lunch? I don't have a ride today and the snack machine here sucks.
Interesting page. Turns out we're going to be writing our own software anyway. Too bad it won't get anyone laid!

Got tired of waiting for this to happen.

Then when the Suede Denim Secret Police come knocking they sure won't be knocking on my door.
But they will be coming for your uncool niece.

Can you rephrase that?

But Al Jazeera said prisoners were abused in Guantanamo, so it must be false!! :)

Just my opinion...
It's a web browser. What are you expecting, Firefox to microwave your dinner?
I like the way I was the third person to comment or so and that makes the comment redundant.
The link points to a digg article that points to the PC Mag article. Not sure what to say.
Um, why should we even HAVE "terrorist prisons in Europe"?
This is a good thing, ya'll are just blind Microsoft haters as usual.
Yeah! It's not like Microsoft has a history of astroturfing, assimilating and destroying!

Global warming is simply designed intelligently.
