    that's what people tend to do, not the winning strategy. use the trend to your advantage. for example, if someone just beat your scissor with rock, he will tend to play rock again, so you should play paper next. whereas you might've been half-tempted to play rock also

    Annoying over-used buzzwords aside, my guess is that the update situation on these will be just like other hackintosh setups, where you can update, but you have to obtain a hacked update installer, or go through a very manual process to do it.

    My original hackintosh setup for example was running 10.4.8 and couldn't use software updates, but I was able to move it over to 10.4.10 eventually (though I'm now running on 10.5.1).


    current gen hackintosh setups (such as those using kalyway leopard) can accept most official mac os x updates, (like 10.5.1) but require hacked versions of updates that change the kernel. (like 10.5.2)

    I work at a canadian telco and if I ever want to placate customers about prices I just quote them US high speed prices. They are ussually four times as expensive for the same service. ADSL 3.0 MB is 39.95 CND here with great up time and very low saturation. I get 300KB downloads almost all the time.

    AT&T aDSL is California is cheaper.

    768 Kbps = $15
    1.5 Mbps = $20
    3.0 Mbps = $25
    6.0 Mbps = $35

    Contract not required.

    Again, correct me if I'm wrong but according to http://nmp.nasa.gov/ds1/tech/ionpropfaq.html, ion drives only deliver 10x the efficiency of chemical rockets. So to reach 0.6c, wouldn't an ion drive require more propellant than exists in the universe?

    Correct me if I'm wrong (IANARS), the Voyager 1's current velocity is 17.2km/s which translate to 0.000057c. This is currently earth's fastest spacecraft. Shouldn't we be thinking about breaking 0.00006c before 0.6c? And a 0.6c probe within 10 years? Are you kidding?

    PC and Mac. The interface is terrible but the video codec is by far the best thing out there. The problem I have with iChat and Skype is that though they may claim 30fps video, it feels like it's much less. When I'm using sightspeed, it feels like I'm seeing the other person on TV (natural motion and lip sync but admittedly snowier). I can't say the same for the codecs in ichat and skype; to me they are reminiscent of the the 'live' footage we saw during operation enduring freedom.

    Why didn't Kerry win? Because he was a weak candidate with little going for him other than not being Bush...Bush won because many voters, myself included, thought Bush was responsible for cleaning up his own mess, and that Kerry had absolutely no ability to do so...Bush won the election because Kerry was a wishy-washy asshole. It's that simple.

    These kinds of generalizations are clearly ridiculous when you consider that a 2% shift in the votes of ONE state (Ohio) would have completely changed the outcome of the election.

    If Kerry did get those extra 118,599 votes (0.03% of total US population), would you be here today calling Bush a weak candidate with no ability to govern?

    Also there is a requirement for these plans to be paired with at least a $40/month voice plan (and not forgetting the $5/month fees that sound like taxes but aren't) that's $85/month - for 2 years that's a minimum of $2540 (including the cheaper phone).

    Want voice dialing? Cingular will sell you one for another $120 ($5/mo)- http://www.cingular.com/cell-phone-service/service s/serviceDetails.jsp?LOSGId=&skuId=sku1040072 - which, since Apple has made no noise about this being included, may be your only way to get this feature. Yea, I'd say $3000 isn't too far off the mark!

    nice try. to get to $3000 over 2 years, you are assuming that it'll cost $100/month to use the iphone. by that reasoning, the new treo is a $2800 phone since the phone itself is $400. and fyi, cingular offers an unlimited data plan for smartphones for $20/month: http://www.cingular.com/cell-phone-service//cell-p hone-plans/smartphone-connect-plans.jsp

    the cnn article doesn't link to any of the websites in the article. (they are only linking to cnn stock quotes for the respective companies.) For some reason, traditional news websites such as cnn.com and nytimes.com never link to the sites their articles refer to.

    because the 13.3 is wide screen it will have an area of 76 square inches versus 70 on the standard 12.1. this is an increase of 8.5%, so depending on the design of the macbook (they might be able to trim the border of the lcd and rumors are saying that it's thinner than the current powerbook), it might be the same size as the current 12.1 inch powerbook.

    Democracy consists of you and your neighbors deciding most of what government does to you. An elected senate dictating tiny details of everyday life to people hundreds of miles away is not democratic. Every matter being a national winner-takes-all battle is not democratic.

    Did you check the water for dissolved polystyrene? Solubility for polystyrene is very low, but it may be noticeable after 10 years. If it did dissolve and not degrade, that means that all the styrofoam is chemically unchanged and is still in the 5-gallon bottle.
