Since when does morality have anything to do with it? It's simply business. Stop believing that we the people are supposed to follow some high and lofty moral compass while corporations are free to rape and pillage at will. Bullshit. When THEY treat us with dignity, respect, honestly, and consideration THEN and ONLY THEN can they demand to be treated the same.
All they care about is money. Whatever system earns them the most money is the system they will continue to use. They don't care if you can't afford cable and HBO. They don't care if you have to wait a week, a month, or a year to see their content. Cause they don't give a shit about you. They only care about THE MONEY. There is no right. There is no wrong. There is only PROFIT.
So why the FUCK should I care about them when they've made it abundantly clear they don't give a shit about me?
While you can continue to insist that it's wrong to consume content without paying for it the rest of us will continue to tell you we don't give a fuck. Just like HBO doesn't give a fuck if I want to watch their show but refuse to pay over $100 a month for it. Whatever I need to do to save the most money possible is what I'm going to do. Just like how HBO is going to do whatever earns them the most profits. So in the end both HBO and I are essentially doing the same thing -- looking out for #1 and not giving a rat's ass about the other. I learned it all from our corporate overlords. God Bless uh'Murica!!!
Thing is, Skyrim is the exception, not the rule. That is to say, it's an exceptional title and IMO worth paying a premium for. Can you say that about all the other $50-$60 games?
I'm willing to pay $60 for a really GREAT game, but not a mediocre one (and honestly, I would never, ever spend $80-$100 on a game no matter how good it is). And most of them to me are mediocre. For $0-$15 I can get a mobile or indie game that will entertain me just as much, if not more, than a mediocre $60 game. What indie games lack in super-duper 3D shaded particle blurred physics water they make up in genuinely innovative and interesting gameplay. Y'know, FUN. If all your time and energy is focused on making the game look pretty at the expense of making it fun to play, then you're going to have nothing but a very expensive turd on your hands.
What a fucking load of horseshit. If they were giving out prizes for the biggest load of horseshit this crap would walk away with the blue fucking ribbon.
Yeah, I think that's the biggest problem. I used to really enjoy watching the Olympics until it became over-commercialized and they started allowing pros to play. That kinda broke the whole thing for me.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Piracy is not the problem. Piracy is merely a symptom of a broken business model. Fix the outdated way you do business and piracy won't be an issue.
OK, I don't use Firefox, I use Chrome. And I have plug-ins disabled by default, so they all show up as grey boxes. If I want to run one I right click and select Run. How is this any different?
...the Republicans with their "drill, baby, drill" sound bite have been lying to us all along?!?!? NO! I do NOT BELIEVE!
Um... the reason they want to increase US production is so that the US oil companies, who pull the puppet strings of many top Republicans, want a bigger chunk of that $4 a gallon. The more oil they produce domestically the greater their profits. It has absolutely nothing to do with lowering prices, despite what the Republicans would like us to believe.
Yeah, clearly we're on different pages. Believe whatever nonsense you want. You're either hopelessly naive or a telecom shill.
There's a reason why AT&T is called the Death Star and why telecoms rank at the very bottom of customer satisfaction surveys year after year after year. That simply wouldn't happen if you treated your customers right.
Thing is, it's not. All most of the money they've spent on infrastructure was paid for by government subsidies. It also doesn't explain why most of the modern world outside the US has data capacities and speeds that equal or exceed the US at a fraction of the cost.
And sorry, I don't buy the bit about how heavy users are costing them a fortune. Look at my highway example again. Since you can't ever exceed maximum throughput on the network, what difference does it make if I download 5 GB or 20 GB? None. I'm not using more bandwidth when I'm downloading, I'm using exactly the same bandwidth, but for a longer period of time. If they don't like it then stop selling unlimited plans. It's the same bullshit excuse they use for trying to charge you extra for tethering. What difference does it make whether I'm using my data for my phone, my tablet, my laptop, or my desktop? NONE. They charge us an arm and a leg because they can get away with it. It's been shown repeatedly in numerous studies the fees they charge us are ridiculously more than what it costs them. Now sure, they're entitled to make a profit, I'm not saying otherwise. But it should be done fairly, without blatantly trying to rip people off.
Which I would not have been able to enjoy if it weren't for piracy.
Replace "Internet" with "religion" and "pornography" with "dogma" and you've found the real detriment to society.
I pirate it cause I'm not going to spend $25 per episode to watch it. It's a good show. But it ain't THAT good.
Is that honest enough?
*cough*Danger5*cough*

Click "Print this" to get the entire article on one page. And I agree, layouts like this are really annoying.

I'm betting they'll take cheap diner food, put it on fancy plates, and charge 3x more for it. Amirite?

Which only makes it worse considering how many actually do make a mint from it.
Yeah, I think that's the biggest problem. I used to really enjoy watching the Olympics until it became over-commercialized and they started allowing pros to play. That kinda broke the whole thing for me.
So basically, only those who are in it or have a vested financial interest. Yeah, I'd say that's pretty much it.
Does anyone even care about the Olympics anymore?

Sandalwood, musk, essence of hipster, and oil of douche

And in other news, water is wet, film at 11. Back to you in the studio Jim...
Get a douchebag to play a douchebag! Genius!
Even science can't yet fix stupid.

It would really suck if I actually paid for any of those things.
Google announces they are blocking access from all German IP addresses in 3...2...1...

Didn't Apple invent and patent MIME attachments (after stealing the idea from Nate)?
What's that? No? Well they claim to have invented and patented everything else they've stolen, so I figured I had at least a 50/50 shot...
