Yeah, this guy may be a bit of a zealot, but I'd rather not find out how the "real" world works if that means I have to trust scientists to not make a cataclysmic blackhole or supernova on Earth. I think we've grown a bit too big for our britches when we think this is a good idea because we think we can do this sort of thing in a "controlled" experiment. My motto is "Just because we can doesn't mean we should."
Okay, so "The Mummy Returns" was a steaming pile of crap and "Knight's Tale" is modern day Shakepere in Katz's eyes? What is this? He can see the tongue-in-cheekness of this movie but not the other? What a moron...
You mean that the US doesn't have a right to police the activities of all other countries in the world? How can this be? Something has to be wrong here... arrest this man!
Man, I wish I worked there. I mean, hell, do they have anything else to do?
I can see it now:
Bob: "Well Bill, what do you want to do today."
Bill: "I'm kinda bored, let's play with some multimillion dollar spacecraft."
Bob: "Yeah, we haven't had news coverage since yesterday, so let's take NEAR up, fly it around the sun into the past and rescue some humpbakcs. Sound good to you?"
Bill: "Yep"
Bob: "What about next week?"
Bill: "Well, I have plans to crash the Mir into a small glass filled with water."
Ok... so you:
1) go through the trouble of taking that tag out/off of whatever it came on.
2) nuke it
Wouldn't it be easier to:
1) go through the trouble of taking that tag out/off of whatever it came on.
2) throw it out?
Oh God, someone dares to prohibit some 13 year old from buying "Death Killerz 3000 w/ more blood!"? Oh no, "they're" touching the typical Slashdotter's precious video games, the replacement of the real-life they so desperately try to avoid. Geez people, they've been doing this at the movies forever. At least at the movie, the kid's only possibly watching a violent act. In a video game they have the chance to both watch it and cause it.

Bet I just shot the tiny bit of Karma I've built up all to hell with that posting.
Well, if things keep going like they are, eventually you'll have to go to your local RIAA Listening Center, enter a soundproof booth (alone and after an intensive full-body cavity search to check for any illegal recording devices), pay for your right to listen to that one song on the CD you bought yesterday, hand said CD over to the approved RIAA "Playback Officer" and have them play your song for you. If you are caught singing or humming any part of the song upon leaving, you will be tried and jailed on the spot.
One really had to wonder what fun side effects we'll find with this.
"Well, Bob. It looks like we won't need to make your skin invisible to check in on that tumor anymore. The patch above the area in question appears to have fallen off this morning."
Sega has also released plans for their next generation system, now called the S-Inanimate-Carbon-Rod.
Says a spokesperson: "Not only will you get to play your old Sega games, they will now be infused with carbony-funness!"
When asked for comment, Sony PSX developers said: "Sega? Who? Oh... didn't they have some game with a hedgehog who got voiced by that Urkel kid in its cartoon form? Are we supposed to be worried?"
This is great to see. The peer-review miracle of open-source will be useful. It's a wonderous model that could've been used to catch the fact that there is no such word as "Consturction."

the first student of the newly created FBI University was enrolled today.
"We will provide a superb education for all our students for years to come," said an FBI-U rep. "Well, at least until our 'faculty' get done 'researching' that Carnivore thing."
Place looks pretty good, however it's missing one thing. I think they should put up the number of people who have voted/given feedback for a particular registrar. Don't know about you, but a 2 star rating as a result of 100 votes vs a 2 star rating as a result of 1 vote are an entirely different beasts to me.
Actually, a clarification is needed: Our VP is the internet pioneer! He did it all by his lonesome. Had to do something while Tipper was out trying to censor 2Live Crew.
Okay, they say they don't need new laws to prosecute/catch cybercriminals, yet, as this article stated (I think nthis was also on/. the other day), they want to possibly eliminate privacy online? Isn's this a little weird/stupid or am I the only one?
Microsoft is planning a contest kinda like this. Anyone who can design and operating system that uses less than 50% of a computer's resources. They don't even have to put the disclaimer that employees of the company can't compete in the contest since it'd be redundant.
Wow... an amazing short-sighted look at the space industry and government. Let's see... if we give money to the space industry, they'll start more projects. As a result more jobs are created. This lets people work and possibly get off wellfare to do the factory work created either directly or indirectly by the NASA projects. Helps our economy and therefore pays for itself. It's people like toofast that should be strapped to next rocket and get a firsthand look at the wonders of outer space.

Your government
Insert rimshot and rotten tomato throwing here
Okay, I just have to do it: "Cap'n, our servers canna take much more o' this" Damn Slashdot effect.
You mean that the US doesn't have a right to police the activities of all other countries in the world? How can this be? Something has to be wrong here... arrest this man!
And the bigger question... if they couldn't retrieve it, how did they know they successfully stored it?

If I were IAM, I'd be pissed too. Thing is, I'd be willing to bet IAM wanted those "cool" navbarless pop-up windows to begin with.
I always thought that Plan 9 was from Outer Space and not Bell Labs. Huh... learn something new every day.
