I'm not necessarly saying a store or anything like that. Just place to go and find out about new music you might like and read/search reviews. The whole idea would to NOT make money off of it.
Of course that bandwidth cost is always a sticky point.
It wouldn't be "anti-RIAA" per se, but pro-"non RIAA". Probably an awful lot of European music.
To be honest, if SomaFM.com had an IkonBoard going, I wouldn't ask the question. =)
Given that AOL is tied to IE's render engine, I do wonder how they will cover two different versions of IE, once Longhorn comes out. I mean, not everyone will (even in Microsoft's wildest dreams) upgrade immediately, if at all. Given that case, I am sure that Longhorn IE will be a different to work with than IE 6.0. Would that mean that AOL has to have two different versions of their software? That would be costly.
But going to one code base with a cross-platform Gecko that has had *years* to evolve would become enticing at that point.
Actually, McCarthy's book covered this very fact. They had no idea what they were doing at the time but laid the ground work centuries later for quantum dots.
"Another example of the old adage that you should never underestimate the bandwidth of a stationwagon full of magtapes, except this time it's a postal van full of DVDs."
Heh, I think I know what book YOU read! Sounds like the "Tanenbaum Text" to me!;)
Describing briefly what Mozilla is, is just an attempt at good journalism on Michael's part. Now I know we are not use to seeing that here on Slashdot but we should be tolerant whenever we see it...
I think Scott McCloud of Zot fame (http://www.scottmccloud.com) had probably the broadest definition of all - anything that doesn't involve survival or reproduction can potentially be defined as "art".
The whole point being that you can't just eat and/or have sex all day - you have to find other things to do to fill the time. Thus "art".
So, are software developers of web browsers guilty of a crime by enabling the ability to View Source of any web page?!
One has to wonder how long it will be before computers and the hoods of automobiles will have "Do not remove this seal under penalty of law" enclosing their contents from view...
Apple has always (seemingly) wanted to become the next Sony so your view makes a lot of sense. And if this is the case, culture clash is something that they will have to become repeatedly accustom to over the course of time.
I hate to be the cause of a Slashdot Effect at Homestarrunner.com again but...
...you people DO realize that almost ALL Strong Bad Email's have easter eggs in them at the end? Try clicking around things on the screen at the end of a SB Email movie...
Can you find them all?;)
Shameless Plug : The Brothers Chaps like http://www.robotbastard.com - could Rob Schrab and the Chaps work together someday? Who knows...?
Are you kidding? I'm not just talking about family photos. Imagine maps, scanned handwritten notes, thumbnail concepts for client work, or any other "graphic page" type information in your hand.
I think the rumor mills are hearing the truth but misinterpreting it. A video screen (say 6-inch diag.) iPod like device as a portable photo album could be slick.
Don't think "QuickTime in your hand" think "iPhoto in your hand".
...or is it that Struts, JavaServer Faces and MVC methodologies merely enforce good coding techniques/styles that one should be using anyway? Regardless of if you are using PHP, Perl, etc.
Or is there something more here?
Sometimes I think Java, OO and other development technologies are like grammer school teachers hovering over our heads saying, "Now, we *know* you are going to be sloppy if left on your own, so are going box you in so that you CAN'T do those sloppy things."
Except that you still can. VERY easy to understand and maintain applications can be coding procedual languages. VERY difficult to understand and maintain applications can be written in OO languages.
I hope you're right. I've been resorting to pulling the USB out, wait, and plug it back in again to solve the problem. It's been like this for months. Apple fixed it once, then it came back again. I sent them feedback on this.
If 10.2.3 DOESN'T fix this, I urge iSub owners to send feedback to Apple.
I have Cingular in Milwaukee, WI and I have no complaints. I don't have signal problems, no billing horrors and a feature package that is just what I want. Naturally, everyone always wants it cheaper, no matter what it is, but I do not feel that I am being gouged.
I really think it depends where you are. I'm not seeing the problems that are discussed here.

Would anyone be interested the creation of a web site/community/forum that specifically focused on non-RIAA member label artists?
Or is there such a thing and I should be contributing reviews to it already?
Remember that the EU stands to take $10B of that...
Try all new "Fire(tm)". Fire cleans and disinfects, all in one easy step! Documents can be rendered completely secure as well!
...I'd stay for much longer than 15 months!

Let the arguements begin...

I still drive a pre-retro design '97 Thunderbird and it runs and looks quite fine, thank you very much! ;)

I wish it wasn't a joke! I'd play it that way!

No, I don't think he does... I wish I had the karma to mod you up...

But I digress... by nature.
You could make a RAID of these things the size of a couple of decks of cards. And I imagine that they kick out less heat.
Seems like a candidate for use in the next generation iMac...
Has inmyopinion.org be reserved yet...? Set up subdomains for all bloggers under it? ;)

... this sort of thing never happens in MacOS X.
:)
I just had to say that
The "Sidebar" seems (functionally) very much like The Dock in MacOS X. The rest is just, pardon the pun, "window dressing".
The big questions have yet to be answered:
1) Is it more stable?
2) Is it more secure?
3) Will the licensing restrictions be reasonable?
