It is amazingly simple to create a script to: While (1) {
1. Open your browser and go to Amazon, Google, Ebay, etc with embedded "search" for random words out of the dictionary or strings of words out of a text.
Note: Search terms can be embedded in URL
2. Pause (some of these sites will stop you from doing it X times per second)
3. Close browser }
I've run a script like this before. What follows are some amusing Amazon recommendations.
I've always wondered what would happen if my script searched for some hot button NSA phrases? What would happen to the market cap of these customer information based sites if everyone started running this script? Do these have the intelligence to distinguish between my searches and the script's searches?
1 MW of solar requires 7.4 acres (http://www.entergy-arkansas.com/content/news/docs/AR_Nuclear_One_Land_Use.pdf)
1 MW will provide enough power for about 1,000 homes. Not bad!
1 MW = 3.412 MMBtu of energy. At 50% efficiency, that takes over 6 MMBtus of fuel to produce every hour. At $4/MMBtu (cheap natural gas) the tide is providing 4 x 6 x 8,760 = $210K of free fuel.
The Sony Ericson P800 and the Motorola A920 had Doom ports that were very true to the Doom experience... in 2003.
As an unlocked A920 user, there is very little on the iPhone that I didn't see on that device. Apple's real accomplishment has been wrestling control away from the carriers who {locked down/disabled/walled gardened/made crappy} all of the devices that they sold.
I am happy for what Apple has done. It has allowed me to buy a Motorola Droid from Verizon without all of the restrictions it would otherwise have had.
I repeat what I said in a previous post , the only way to read this without having to click through all the pages is to go to page one, click the P in the little circle for print. Then the entire article is opened up on one page, nice.
This and many other sites like it offer a Print option that puts the whole story on one page. With the likelyhood that slashdot is going to take this site to task, it would be a good idea to get it all on one page before you start reading. That way, you won't get blue mouse trying to get to page 2.
The only thing blocking this before was that the teacher couldn't grade fast enough for 25 kids to submit 4 drafts of a paper. Is the grading system available to the kids during the writing process? I think that would be great. What excuse would a kid have for not getting an 6, er, 'A'?
If this is so good, why don't we use it everywhere? Use it in business before sending out a memo, or even an email for that matter. Use it in newspapers. I've seen tons of grammer errors in AP news reports.
I can appreciate the desire to ditch all computing power and just stick to a basic word processor. As soon as I get on a train with my palm I start playing solitare. The escape from computers that I used to get from being on the train is lost. It's even worse if you throw GPS, email, SMS, or other high tech distraction into the mix. This guy wants to find a digital notebook that won't detract from his travels the way a laptop/pda would. I totally understand.
...now all I use it for is MAME! XBMP rules too, but it is hard to get used to the joystick as a means of controlling it. I should just break down and buy a DVD remote.
Have you ever read anything by this guy? Me neither.
My point is that he is not writing to tell you and me what is up. He is 57 years old and he is writing to tell my partents what is up. And frankly, I think he does a good service. My folks are clueless when it comes to using their Tivo and iMac and miniDV camera. The fact that Wall Street gives him so much credit makes sense, old people have more money.
If you are starting a company that needs Wall Street support, or needs old people's money, by all means, appeal to this man. If you are like me and don't give a darn whether or not you are one of 100 or one of 1 million people using the BEST of what is around, you can feel free to ignore everything this guy says.
I have had a very fullfilling time finding my own favorite tech gadets and software, I don't need this guy to tell me anything. I will point out his column to my Dad though.
Becoming a registered developer is the easiest way to download the development tools (standard gnu stuff that is missing from OS X). I am a registered developer, but I don't want to develop on OS X. I just want gcc when I'm there to fool around with.
What do any of these people do with free time to break encryption schemes, contribute to oss, and build robotic girlfriends? I'm serious, how do you earn a living and still have time to do things like this?
I am a new Sirius subscriber and I like it so far. The lack of commercials in the car is really nice. It started feeling like I was listening to 3 minutes of commercials for every 5 minutes of talk with the local AM stations. Add in the traffic/weather/intro music/filler and there wasn't much substance in my 45 minute commute.
The thing I like most about the music stations is that you can see the Artist and Song title that is playing and you can see what is on other channels as well (at least with my Kenwood tuner) without changing the channel.
I haven't been too impressed with the home docking kit, I've had trouble getting a good signal in my home. I guess this is alright though because I can listen online to all the music stations. The home kit works well with the antenna outside, so once I find the right place for it, I'm pretty sure I'll like it. Right now there is a $50 rebate if you buy the tuner and two docking kits, so the home one was "free" anyway.
I love the NBA/NHL availability and next year the NFL will be broadcast as well. That's great for me because I don't like my local teams as much as the teams I grew up routing for.
The Sirius fits right in with the iMac/Tivo/Roomba/iPod as techy things that are easy to use and make my life better. If you feel the same about these other things, you'll probably like Sirius.

Why is the singleness of the charge always noted?
The current Surface Pro can last 40.5 hours on a triple charge.

Yes. Thank you.

Is zeta going to continue to use a 4+ year old kernel? Look at the last screenshot.
We maintain that it is Plastic/LEGO

make sure not to touch your car much or leave it parked in the same place too long.
I pay for my radio. It's called Sirius, and I haven't heard a commercial in months. I like it.
If this is so good, why don't we use it everywhere? Use it in business before sending out a memo, or even an email for that matter. Use it in newspapers. I've seen tons of grammer errors in AP news reports.
You are welcome, Mr. Jacka$$.
This isn't some fly-by-night chip maker.

and you've got the cheapest solution yet for calling home from mid-air.

I know that the metro/queer eye craze is going strong. Is it because this speeder killed MAN?
"in jail for speeding that killed man "
