Sucks to be in the middle of the Silicon Valley (San Jose, tech central) and be out of range of ANY form of high speed connection. I can't get DSL in my area because I'm too far from the CO... I can't get Cable in my area because I'm not on a block that has CModems enabled. The "iDSL" option that I've received (hybrid from what I understand, ISDN/DSL mixture) was absolutely wonderful (only went down ONCE) until my ISP got bought, then Northpoint went under. Bah.

Yes, they mean that your IP address doesn't change so little jerks with too much time on their hands or a bone to pick can come after you again and again... but you can run a server off of a static, can't really do that too well off of a dynamic.

There's a large possibility that I just have issues with writing... my handwriting is horrid, so I can imagine what it looks like in the game... I think I may be curving some motions without realizing it too because I keep drawing the gestures quite large on the 12x9 tablet, maybe I should try something a bit smaller. Have you found a way to disable the tip? I find that gliding over the tablet makes me make mistakes that touching the tablet would not (namely slipping and hitting the tip against it)
I have a Wacom tablet (12x9) for drawing purposes, I figured this would work nicely for doing gesture based motion in B&W... bah... it's worthless for that... I've found that Black & White either has something in it to stop perfect motion from counting (so you can't use pentablets) or I'm a worse pen-writer than I thought... I mean, a giant "R" should work no matter what, and it's not hard to make a spiral. Basically, I stick with the Trackman Marble. It works. (oh, and the funky Wacom "4D" mouse doesn't help either.... wonder if I could configure it's thumbwheel to do nifty easy zooming for me though... hmm)
Umm... a couple weeks back... the Latitude belonging to another employee here had a backlight failure... the display worked in that if you looked really hard you could see the picture, but there was no way to use the system, the LCD was practically black (dark dark grey)...
I don't have much of an issue... but I look older than I am (I've been guessed as high as 25)... the knowledge issue also helps. There are two techs where I work who are just getting ready to leave their teens (myself and another) and two older adults. Often I find that users react with a bit of negativity until we've dealt with them once or twice, but our department treats us just like the older adults. This is IT though... it might be a little different.
Actually, I do love my job... and by "tired of work" I meant when I have the money to actually do what I want to do. I WANT to get a degree, I like my job, I consider myself lucky to have gotten it at 19, and I consider it to be the best thing I have going for me right now. I want the degree simply because that's what I want though. I will probably tweak out within the next five years and decide that I can't deal with the simple amount of stress in working Information Services (there are a total of 8 people in my department, 3 for PC tech) for a company of 600 people. That's when I'll take a break from the working world and get the degree... when I feel that I'm ready to leave the work for a while and get the "education" required.
why can't we just get someone to work with a valid 24 bit color palette? This 256 color crap sux... I want my full 24 bits damnit... oh well... guess I'll stick with Grayscale for now... sigh
I don't mean go right off the bat, no... I'm a prime example... 19 years old, one year out of high school. I've been working for the company that I am part of for three years and am now making what is probably considered minimal for an IT position. It's still far more than most nineteen year olds I know make at a much easier job. I, however, would love to go to college. I agree with something else I read while skipping down this page, opportunities don't give you time to wait. I want the chance to say "At 19 with no education I was making serious bank" but I also would like the chance to say "hey... I finished something good." about college. Eventually, I think I will go to college, but now, I'll stick with working... it suits me better. I'll go back when I'm tired of this work.
Umm... you've seen the kernel notes... right? oh? you haven't? I'm sorry...
Neon Genesis Evangellion and Record of Lodoss War
on
Essential Anime
·
· Score: 1
Record of Lodoss War is a medieval DNDish type Anime, but it really does more than just compare to most contemporary/future anime I've seen. Neon Genesis Evangellion starts out a bit slow, but works up to being just awesome... despite the fact that it sounds a bit odd. Lodoss is out in a 2 DVD (6/7 episodes/disc) set and NGE is just now starting to come out on DVD (4 episodes/disc)...
An eventual goal in my life is to write some form of program, whether it is a game or a GUI proggie which will be looked at followed with the words "Damn that's kleen" or "Damn that's krispi"... or... well... something to that effect... I just want the recognition of having done something that... at least for it's time of release... was beautiful to the eye;)
Just a comment to everyone who's praising the CPUID #'s on the PIII's... why would you honestly need a serialized Identification number (i.e. a number which is existant only for you) to determine the original clock of the unit? Use a stored register on the chip which contains the original fsb/multiplier settings, then make the bios a bit more sane (i.e. instead of "AMD Athlon 700 mhz" have it report "AMD Athlon 700 mhz clocked to 700mhz")
As I said... it is *not* segmented. They are using doubling techniques for the textures only, that means any other memory usage is not doubled. i.e. Program sends 4MB of texture memory, 8 megs get used, the rest remains fully usable by the multiple processors... my only personal remaining question is what the heck is that intel chip on there?
wasn't the GeForce 256 just a twin 128 bit chip? (i.e. 2 chips on one die or 2 seperate dice)... doesn't that make the topic of this a bit... incorrect?
Macross, not Macross Plus.

I just want to see CGAnubus ;)
Statics are good AND bad.

I believe the term for these was OEL displays (Organic Electro-Luminescent)

College is simply a way to say "Hi, I'm malliable." - while malliability is good... it isn't theory.

There are still two CPUs, that's all I'm saying...
What in gods' name does this have to do with what I said?
Umm... did I mention anything about going below 100? or say that FPS was not important?
no... I said it's pointless once you get past a certain speed and that once you got that far, it didn't matter which card you were using... didn't I?
What *are* you talking about? my V3 can easily handle 32 bit color in 2D mode (Win32 or X)...
wasn't the GeForce 256 just a twin 128 bit chip? (i.e. 2 chips on one die or 2 seperate dice)... doesn't that make the topic of this a bit... incorrect?
Do you have any clue what TBuffer has aside from FSAA?
Slashdot didn't do the review, they pointed to a review on the 'net... relax man.
