I checked 127.0.0.1 and didn't see any IMDB pages. I can see why they'd want it taken down though. It had a bunch of sick German ScheissePorn and some goat porn as well. I already had all of it though.
Apparently I'm actually one of the IP addresses named in the original suit. Funny thing is, I don't know, nor have I downloaded any of Voltage's list of crappy films. They actually have 'The Hurt Locker' (which I haven't seen) in their list but the rest are pretty much B movies. What's even more funny is that the time during which I was alleged to have downloaded some of their stuff was the same time I was in Europe on a two week vacation. There were people looking in on our house and we also have neighbors and such who use our wifi so certainly others might have downloaded movies but not me.
A fun fact about Canadian jurisprudence is that typically the loser pays court costs so if they DO try to take me to court, I think I might exhaust ever single possible legal argument, drag the whole thing out as long as I can before dropping that bombshell. I'm pretty sure that being on the other side of the Atlantic in the middle of the Adriatic on a cruise ship with no internet access proves that I didn't download anything... If I can cost Voltage a fortune in legal fees then it will be a good day.
Well, it's not exactly a burst speed - I can run flat out at 3MB/s all day long. I see your point though - with the cap it amounts to a much slower overall rate if I want to stay off my limit.
Yeah, my cable modem is stupid fast....only problem is, running full tilt I can go through my monthly bandwidth cap in eleven and a half hours.
Fortunately, for the moment, the overage cap is $50 so if you download a bunch some month you just say, "Woohoo, unlimited bandwidth." For example, in January I downloaded 750MB which put me 625MB over my cap and would have cost an extra $780. Ridiculous no? And now the CRTC (equivalent of FTC) has ruled that the major ISPs are allowed to pass usage based billing fees onto third party providers which means there will be no more unlimited plans and the billing cap will likely go away.
Basically, Rogers and Bell want you to watch their channels, not use Netflix, AppleTV, etc. And the wretched hive of scum and villany known as the CRTC is letting them do it.
Not much point in fast internet if you can't use it.
I've been contacted by at least 3 different recruiters. One tried to add me to her contact list at http://www.linkedin.com/ but I declined since I don't want to work in the U.S.
That's exactly the kind of ignorance that keeps creationism in the bible belt schools. As far as you and I are concerned, evolution _IS_ a fact just like gravity is a fact and it is a fact that the earth revolves around the sun. Scientists call these things 'theories' precisely because they are willing to accept that they could be disproven. In spite of millions of man hours of work on these theories, no one has come up with anything to contradict them but that doesn't mean that someone couldn't. You and I, however, are NOT equipped to contradict these theories regardless of how much you'd like to whine, "but...the eye is so complex....how could it possibly have evolved..."
The fundamental problem is that my brother is a scientist and should be well acquainted with what _is_ science and what isn't. Science requires that a hypothesis be formed and tests devised that can either prove or disprove it. Creationism or I.D. or whatever the nomenclature of the week is, provides no such mechanism. Anything that can't be explained is just written off with hand-waving saying, "God did it." That's not science. That's religion and my brother should know better.
What I find surprising is how many people who really SHOULD know better get sucked into this creationism/intelligent design thing. My brother is a Medical Doctor who took biochem as his undergrad and has made serious attempts to debate me on the merits of I.D. Unbelievable.
The difference is, antibiotics kill the weakest germs first so if you stop too soon, you're breeding stronger germs.
This would most likely kill the most accessible germs first or if nothing else, just kill the ones it was used on. ("Hey Doc, I think you missed a spot"). I suppose it's also possible that germs with stronger outsides might be given an advantage but it doesn't seem quite as obvious as with drugs.
Here is a more balanced view. There are pros and cons to both methods but the bottom line is that if you shoot anything other than RAW, you're losing information. Many people wouldn't care about that but that's not really the point. A RAW file is like a negative. It can be reprocessed down the road with different parameters. Once it's been converted to a jpeg, all you can do is work with the information you have.
Essentially they're trying to create an open, ISO certified format that is capable of holding all the RAW information that a camera maker would need. This would future proof images so that they can be read by a number of tools.
If you were changing to a:, for example, with no disk in the drive, abort would leave you where you were, fail would change you to that drive but give up on reading it.

Just looked closer...apparently Hurt Locker isn't in the list. I thought it was based on the original letter I got.

Ah ha! Proof that seeding the ocean with iron causes earthquakes!
GB....hadn't had my coffee yet. ;-)

Sorry guys...it was early and I hadn't had my coffee. I meant GB.
Oops...meant FCC, not FTC.

Perhaps one could take it to be "Your Rights, Online". As in, "not at the watercooler or carrying pickets on the street?"
