In all honesty, I don't forsee Microsoft ceasing this behavior anytime soon. If you're using Windows, you might as well surrender to the notion that you WILL encounter these sorts of inconveniences on a frequent/semi-frequent basis. I understand that it's an underhanded practice, but it's also just another unfortunate fact of life for those who use MS products. If that includes you, you'll just have to get used to it.
That's what I was thinking. How many times a year do we read these articles about a miraculous stem cell breakthrough? At some point they have to stop crying wolf.
That said, I'm glad they're making advances, no matter how premature some of these announcements seem.
I moved to ext4 as soon as it became available. I haven't had any problems thusfar (no data loss, etc), and the increased speed is noticable.
So - in the opinion of a very casual Linux user - I would say that yes, it's "okay." I'm not sure I'd trust it with anything super serious, though. I could be the only one without any problems, after all. As always, you should tip-toe around anything bleeding-edge.
One of my buddies wrote his thesis on how 4chan and other anonymous image boards have created a new variant of Communism. This has inspired me to go dig it up for another read.
I hope everyone here realizes that no matter who made the film, who played the characters, and what the plot involved, there would still be 5000 comments on Slashdot complaining about how terrible it was.
I'm a younger fan and I really enjoy Star Trek. I've seen every episode of every show, and I'm reasonably fluent in a lot of the "extra stuff" like the comics and novels. While I'm already familiar with the franchise, this new movie material may just be the kick in the pants that Star Trek needed. I know a few people that want to see this movie, despite not having seen a single TOS episode. Despite what your fanboy idiocy might tell you, this is a very good thing. Because of this movie, Star Trek is not yet dead, Jim.
tl;dr: I think it's about time you old farts stopped bitching about kids on your grass.
I don't mind a visual re-branding, but the angular logo contrasts heavily with the rounded edges of the UI. Seems like a poor aesthetic choice IMHO.
That's OUTRAGEOUS! torrent pl0x!
I agree. I make sure that I rip/download all my metal in 320kbps or FLAC.
I bet you that guy feels like an ass.
No, no! Step number three should be "???"

"The same thing we do every night, Pinky -- try to TAKE OVER THE INTERNET!"
I go to a UW school. Know this: you do not want a UW computer science student to touch your computer, let alone a project of this magnitude.
Does anyone else prefer just a standard controller?
Now what are all their tech support guys gonna do all day?
I'm not going to lie...my first search was for images of boobs.

I can manifest those mutant powers I've always wanted!

I sure hope so! That's the first thing I thought when I saw this article.
Still not using it.
Why is my mouse moving all by itself!?

I think the Xbox/Zune crossover project was mentioned somewhere in Revelations...
"Grandpa, when did the United States fail as a military super power?" "Well, Johnny, it all began in 2009..."
Yessir! If there's one thing that will convince those M$ power users to convert, it's another tutorial about using Ubuntu!

Let's hope that war never changes. I hope they stay as true to the franchise as possible.
This sure is entertaining from over here on Linux Island! *sips drink*
