  2. Re:Now why can't doctors have a 2-3 year pre med on China To Cancel College Majors That Don't Pay · · Score: 1

Actually, some countries have Medical students go straight to med school after highschool but it is longer.... which is not necessarily a bad thing. If they don't have the relevant skills, it makes more sense to start giving them to them the first year out of high school... That way their competency is higher and more relevant skills are acquired throughout med school.

  4. how do they determine people are lying on Lying Is More Common When We Email · · Score: 2

article says they determine it by analysing conversations but it does not tell much. If it is the experimenter's chat logs then he has a bias and he could subconsciously lie more if that is his hypothesis. If it is other lying then how is it determined that they are lying? also, easier to know exact details of conversation if it is written (unless it is recorded word for word).

imho the study as it is presented does not say much... though there is nothing wrong with the hypothesis that people would lie more because it is tougher to come up with a lie live. That said, we all learn to lie very quickly... and most become quite good at it to a point it's not anymore really an issue to lie live for most.

To be fair, 118 is relatively close to 150. The song may have been copyrighted in 1935... but it was composed much earlier and children were spontaneously singing it for birthdays, even adding the lyrics "happy birthday to you"

The fact that you can actually copyright a song that is >ALMOST 50 years old, authored by someone else is actually even more apalling

https move in itself is not bad... but the way it is implemented messes up statistics (you know that stuff came from google but no search keywords) and operation of some sites (display a page with the queried keyword to boost relevance). They say it affects less than 1% of the queries only logged on users).. but I think that is a low number.... who is not logged into gmail? maybe not everybody but I suspect figure is higher than 1%

Among others, they could in theory fix that with a redirect to an http site they own, then redirect to the final site.. I am sure there are other ways if they sit around long enough.

definitely a lot of webmasters pissed, that is sure

I am gonna get (ice) creamed for this... but the ui is indeed well done, the way the os works to safegard against misbehaving apps yet allow flexibility is good, the developer tools are nice (it took me about hour to write a simple app - time to download visual studio included - and that time I ever touched .net), since it is .net not prisoner of one language, good tool developing visually, advertising is as simple as adding an ad control... they actually put some efforts into this.

Not sure if they'll get many developers interested in the marketplace at $99 a year unless their device sales pick up though.
