The entire point of the Common Market, and ultimately the EU was more than simply to have a trading bloc. It is to create extremely tight economic integration. There's a rather good reason for this, seeing as Europe had just gone through two cataclysmic general wars, and if you cast the net back a bit further, you have also have the Napoleonic Wars and major conflicts like the Franco-Prussian War. In other words, this is a region that was blown to bits multiple times over the last few centuries.
Exactly. That's what the moronic Brexiteers (and the other ridiculous nationalist, inward-looking, xenophobic forces all over Europe) seem to ignore, wilfully or otherwise - get rid of the EU and we are back to the different countries in Europe beating the crap out of each other on a regular basis. Brexiteers also seem to ignore that the British empire is long dead and buried. If they think that they are going to be able to bully and exploit the ex-colonies as they used to, they are in for a huge surprise - the stupid PM May already had a taste of things to come when she traveled to India a few months back; the Indians wasted no time in showing her the door after her lame attempts to strongarm them.
The old saying that "nobody surrenders like the French" should be modified to "nobody is as fucking stupid as the English". After all, new millenium, new saying.
Indeed. "British" is to become a trendy term for "stupid". Well, they have to live in that little island with foul weather and not much better food, after all.
Microsoft is just heeding the old adage: Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. Microsoft is no friend of Linux. Trust Microsoft at your own peril.
here's an idea.. you hate systemd so much, you hate gnome so much.. instead of the constant whining and crying.. why not step-up and CONTRIBUTE to the solution instead of being part of the problem.
Here is an idea - why don't we put this red herring to bed, once and for all? The vast majority of people out there are interested in using the system, and they do not have the inclination or capability to tinker with it. But they sure can know what they want, and they sure can be pissed off at the many questionable decisions that have been in made in the Linux desktop world in the last ten years. With an attitude like yours, Linux is doomed to remain a non-entity in the desktop - and, in view of what certain people are pushing for, that is a good thing.
Maybe he is trolling, but he's got a point. In a number of ways, Linux is slowly converging toward Windows, while leaving behind the original Unix philosophy. For ordinary users, Linux in the desktop is making less and less sense, when compared to Windows or Mac.
With that name, they alienated the entire Spanish-speaking population of the planet - among them, admitting to having a device with OpenMoko would be a constant source of embarrassment and hilarity.
Creating confusion. Conflating products. Changing names. Moving the goalposts. Making sure that nobody know exactly what does what. Is it Hangouts? Duo? Allo? Google Talk? Google Voice?
Giving access to my credit cards to the Samsung control freaks. I don't think so. I mistrust Google a bit less, which is why I also won't use their Android Pay thing.
It is bad enough for big companies to indulge in all sorts of dubious practices, but, I, for one, find it even more irritating that they regularly take us for complete imbeciles. Google, what you want to do is get more money from your search stuff. So, be bold and say so. Do not pretend you are doing this autoplay nonsense, which is bound to annoy most people, because you want the best experience for your customers. Which you do not. What you want is more money from your customers - a very different proposition.
It will be 'You will get my internal combustion engine car when you pry it out of my cold dead hands." You might just as well try to get Muricans to quit playing with guns.
By then, they will isolated in their little island, making sure that their population remains pure and flawless. Whatever they do will be of little relevance to the rest of us.
... assuming the UK is still a first-world nation by 2040.
A nation it sure will: the United Kingdom of England and (with luck) Wales. By then it will be called the United Kingdom of Very Little Britain. A first-world nation - well, at least it will be populated by pure race individuals.
oil will run out one day, but the sun will always shine
Maybe another 4 billion years but hardly always.
Major changes in the planet aside, oil will never run out. Rather, at some point it will not make economic sense to drill for it any more. That will hopefully happen some time within the next 20-30 years.
Now if only they devoted some resources to provide the more than 600 million Indian citizens who lack them with such basic services as running water, electricity and sewage, rather than focusing on international me-too pissing contests, the rest of the world might start taking India with more seriousness.
Things disappear when those who support them die. That is what will happen to film, within two decades or so. As for Nolan, I enjoyed Interstellar enormously, but I am going to miss Dunkirk - not only am I a bit fed up with pretentious war movies but, in addition, I do not want to contribute to supporting this pompous ass and his old-fashioned ways.
That's what MS is best at: screwing up its customers. Those of you who are still using Windows because you are locked in, you have my commiserations. The rest, I won't say screw you because you already are.
It will be good for grins and giggles, and for party games. But then again, that space is already densely populated. Samsung, taking a page off Microsoft's book and coming very late to the party.
Such an informed, well-measured, deep and balanced comment has all but convinced me, and probably millions of others.

Next week they will say something different. The only thing that this current UK government has been consistent about is pissing into the wind.

The real question is whether antivirus software does anything other than making money for vendors.

Are these the assholes who foist on us monstrosities like Gnome and the Windows 8 desktop?

Musk is falling for something that way too many before him did fall for: wild success in one area makes me an expert on just about anything.

Rooting is not an option. How do I jettison this spyware?
This will teach you not to fall for the hype and buy a phone that you do not really need, rather than getting one for a fraction of the price.
Lots of people out there are underestimating that it takes to do space travel. As usual, reality is stepping in to put everyone in their place.

Baseball is quite limited in its popularity in the world stage. If you want to make serious money, choose a global sport.
