The problem is the Congressmen trying to block the changeover aren't doing so in the interests of online freedom, but rather in the interests of maintaining control over the internet. Either way it's all about power.

Out of curiosity, why do you find that picture shocking? It was a very common occurrence that is authorized by the Geneva convention and the rules of war.

    No it isn't.

The Geneva convension is rather big on the rights of prisoners of war, you could in fact say it is the largest part of it, because it is. I am amazed you could get yourself to even believe that.

Commissioned officers captured in civilian clothing are considered spies and unlawful combatants and therefore not entitled to prisoner of war status. As an unlawful combatant as defined by the Geneva convention, they are eligible for but not guaranteed the rights and protections of a POW. If the status of the combatant is in doubt a "competent tribunal" is required to determine the status, but as the prisoner had already confessed to the act, been found in proximity to evidence of the act (the mass grave), and there were witnesses to the act his status was not in doubt and therefore a trial was not necessary. And summary executions of spies (during open conflict) and other unlawful combatants has been accepted practice for centuries.

The problem is that one of two people - Clinton or Trump - is going to end up as President. While neither of them is particularly likable you have to consider all the judges that they will appoint, all of the cabinet secretaries that they wil appoint, etc. All of those people have a big influence on the direction of the country albeit less obviously that the President.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. The more people vote outside of the 2 main parties, the more exposure the alternative parties get. The more exposure they get, the more people will support them. The more people support them, the better they will poll. If they poll high enough, they get automatic inclusion into presidential debates. The more debate exposure they get, the more people vote for them. When enough people vote for them the alternative parties are eligible for federal campaign funding the next election, which helps them campaign more and gets the cycle repeating again. Best case, they become viable candidates for Senate, rep, or president. Worst case, they garner enough popularity that the main parties shift to include policies supported by the third parties. The system can be beat from within, it just takes a long time and requires a lot of help.

This does not dismiss the one thing that needs to happen; release the medical records. That is a way that any qualified MD can make at least an initial assessment of someone's health and formulate and educated opinion, particularly in recommending her capability to hold a demanding job for the next four years. THAT is what is truly in question here; her capability to do an important job for quite a long time.

If she had merely caught the common cold 12 times in the last 2 years, I could understand people demanding only an opinion from someone who has directly examined her. However, that is far from reality, even with her medical history remaining somewhat private.
