Give people the ability to not pay for something - be it bread or circus - will mostly result in people taking more than if they had to pay.
Well, that wouldn't affect anyone. If they only take more when they don't have to pay, if they had to pay, no one would be making more.
I believe there might be a certain amount losses in sales to copyright violations, but a whole lot less than the industry want us to believe. And as you say, there's a lot more to it than sale of recordings. Which might benefit from increased distrubution even if it isn't increased sales.
I'm in pretty much the exact same situation myself. My wife's family is over in the states, and that's the only reason I don't just say "fuck this shit" and abandon the US forever. I've felt like a criminal suspect every time I've entered the land of the free, and it only gets worse.
There are a lot of things we should do, true. We need to develop further on Earth in any case, but a Mars colony that eventually could sustain itself would be the best form insurance for quite a long time.
You're thinking short term, even in the life time of anyone alive today. If humans spread themselves to two planets, we'd be far safer from extinction by a major impact event. Which probably won't happen in a long time, but the chance for it to happen to both Earth and Mars is insignificant in comparison.
Of course you'd get many of your billions by slashing the military budget and get more money for progress and less for regress at the same time.
So with these things becoming more like tiny computers than cell phones, what will it take for us to be able to buy just the hardware and install the rest ourselves?
When they mention physical laborers, I start wondering if these type of exoskeletons will restrict us in some areas too. Would I for example be able to run as fast with one as without one? What about jumping or dodging to avoid a fast moving object?
But of course Christians and patriots don't go all jihad on people, so really the government is even more pathetic than first thought. Not only are they stopping out this guys rights to free speech but they are doing so at the behest of foreign invaders whom we are at war with. If the government isn't going to protect the rights of its citizens from foreign invaders what the hell good is it?
I agree with some of what you say, but: What foreign invaders? When was the last time the US was invaded? Isn't it usually the other way around these days?
So they just need one password to access all your profiles?
Unless it was not actually your password for all those sites, but the password to a database (only available locally) that contained the password to those sites, I don't see how that's a solution. Actually, I thought the main problem with passwords was that people already used the same password for all their sites.
This always happens. Maybe not always ahead of the official release, but piracy is a reality. It hasn't killed any major games yet, and you're wasting your time, and more importantly money, worrying about it.
Well, what is the definition of "artificial intelligence" or "machine"? Is it that we make it, or does it depend on what it's made of? If we're restricted to certain materials and systems, I suppose it could be impossible to make it that way. But we could still make something that can think outside those restrictions.
Why wouldn't they be able to? We're all made from the same basic components, all we need to do to be able to make sentient machines, is figure out how humans are able to be sentient. Personally I doubt that'll happen in the next century like the summary says, but I don't see any reason why it would be impossible.
He's not an enemy of anyone but the criminals in the military. He's certainly not an enemy of the people of Afghanistan, the USA, or any of the other NATO countries.
I'm using Firefox because I prefer it over Chrome and such. I don't want the layout changed every major release.
I used to name one of my partitions "Apps". Mainly because "Applications" didn't fit.
What, bad people only shoot bad people? Killing people you disagree with is good? Democracy has failed?
Yes, might as well hand everyone a gun when they turn 16. That'll ensure total safety.
Well, that wouldn't affect anyone. If they only take more when they don't have to pay, if they had to pay, no one would be making more.

Seriously. People incapable of using both hands at once, how are they going to manage comfortably typing all the capital letters without caps-lock?
Too many seem to only think of how they themselves use something an assume the entire world needs only that.

A suboceanic colony here on Earth might work too.

Just what I was thinking.
But that's probably the first step towards making Mars an entirely separate society from Earth.
I'd think it'd be more like "HOLY FUCKING SHIT ALIENS" in some places.
So with these things becoming more like tiny computers than cell phones, what will it take for us to be able to buy just the hardware and install the rest ourselves?
Yeah, I figured carrying heavy objects around. But where there are heavy objects there might be falling heavy objects too.
When they mention physical laborers, I start wondering if these type of exoskeletons will restrict us in some areas too. Would I for example be able to run as fast with one as without one? What about jumping or dodging to avoid a fast moving object?
"And now, they're thinking about banning toy guns - and they're gonna keep the fucking real ones!"
Why is violent video games a bad thing in a country where guns are the ultimate right?
Yes, why should it only be the army that's responsible for killing civilians? Let everyone in on the fun.

I don't see how terrorist or whatever else could pose a bigger threat to the Internet than getting it all shut down.
Personally I lost all respect for Sony with the whole rootkit deal.

Erase, or just took care to not record themselves with identifiable info in the first place?
I'd take it as a sign they developed their senses at an early age (assuming they had Internet at their early age).
