I think the increasing use of tl:dr is people just learning what it means. Before they would just skip over the article/comment/etc, now they feel the need to use this new snarky comment they learned.
My dad used to love taking the power cord from the computer during summer vacation to try and keep me off of it. What he didn't know was the TV used the same kind of cord, so it was pretty easy to swap them out while he was at work.
When he figured out what I was doing, he took that power cord away as well. I guess he really expected me to play outside all day.
Poor guy never found the spare power cord that I kept in my room.
I don't think that any reasonable person, or even most of slashdot, considers a skeptic a bad person. It's people who post crap without any evidence to back their claim that are a problem.
If you say you believe in global warming... sorry, climate change... because random news caster told you to believe it, you're no better than the one that doesn't believe it because random news caster told you it's fake.
I don't care if you're left or right health care 'reform' was one of Obama's main election platforms so I think ObamaCare is a fitting term.
True, but it still marks GP as a right-winger who wants to give it a bad name. Saying "ObamaCare" makes it sound like it's his pet project. It doesn't sound as positive as health care reform or something along those lines.
I would say you're an exception to the rule. Most of the people who do speedtest.net are going to be generally the same people who will spring for the faster internet connection. That's not to say that no one will test on their 56k connection, just that you're in the minority.
But I do agree with you. The US isn't as bad for internet connections as a lot of us make it out to be. There is a lot of room for improvement, though.
...Also why do they have to make roads out of them.. where did that come from? Just put them out on land somewhere, you don't have to drive all over them.
This was my first thought too. Making the solar panels into roads (or vice versa) is compounding the problem. Just put the 25,000 mi^2 of solar panels in the middle of the desert and call it even. Adding a layer of glass or some sort of protective surface is going to lessen the efficiency and raise the cost of production and maintenance. I'm all about green energy, but there are better places we could be spending our money and energy.
It isn't a specific hieroglyph for each character. It's a single picture for the full password. In our version there are certain keys placed around a keychain in the picture and an object attached to the keychain like a car, origami swan, etc. If you're password is correct, you get the same picture every time. Mistype one character and you get a noticeably different picture.
Lawyers do the best job they can for who they work for, otherwise they're not good lawyers. Just because a lawyer defends a serial killer, that doesn't mean they believe that what the killer did was right.
I'm not saying they won't side with the RIAA, just that their previous employers might not have as much to do with their position in the matter as some people think.
Yes. Follow the link.

Based on recent experiences, I doubt the DMV has been doing anything this advanced.~

It stops being a compassionate act when we're forced to do it by government.
I disagree
It's not a compassionate act on your part, but it's still a compassionate act by the government.
Don't worry Mr. Blair. Even if we prosecuted Bush, I highly doubt we'd come after you too.
Vote Dr. Pepper! He has way better qualifications.

If you can buy XP for 25-30$ I'd love to know where you're getting it.
Maybe he was talking about happiness... and fluffy clouds.

No. Women visiting slashdot is still a theory.
I believe he's referring to stage actors, mostly.
Oh yeah? Well, just wait to see what GM's response to these robots will be!
Knowing them, probably a rolling trash compactor.
Ask a veteran what they think about government health care.
Loved it. No joke.

The bigger problem is drunk driving. 49% of all fatal accidents in Wisconsin last year were caused by drunk drivers.
Sadly, tons is sometimes used to measure us ;)

You think spreading misinformation doesn't cause doubt?
