You're not the only one, obviously, and that's intentional. By calling it Windows 10, they're trying to put as much distance as possible between it and Windows 8. And make 7 look even more "old".
And the OS version will probably report something linke 'Version 6.5.xxxx'
You ignore the fact that there have been many many in-depth criticisms of GIMP over the years, from people who have taken the time to ensure they understand that its the tool that is lacking rather than their understanding.
Photoshop, although not as bad as GIMP, isn't exactly a pinnacle of user friendliness either.
The LG G3 I got is preloaded with AT&T bloatware, LG bloatware, and the Google apps. 3 maps programs. One is useful. I see this more as a whipping tool to all the manufacturer and carrier garbage hard baked in the latest ROMS.
It wouldn't be so bad if they would at least make the crapware removable without having to root your phone first!
You jest, but the majority of large, mission critical systems...payroll, point of sale, etc. are in COBOL...
When it's got to work, work all the time, handle million and millions of records, and can be maintained by college graduates, COBOL is the way to go.
How many colleges are teaching COBOL these days?
I doubt that your average Java or C++ jockey CS grad would be able to maintain a business critical COBOL code base.
I mean my front door is highly exploitable with simple tools, but if you do it we throw you in a cage. On average it's pretty effective.
Your local police is probably at least somewhat capable of investigating and prosecuting a physical break-in but hacking your thermostat is almost certainly beyond their ability to investigate and even if they could the perpetrator is almost certainly outside their jurisdiction.
Windows 8/8.1 and Server 2012 aren't bad operating systems. They are just hobbled with hideous user interfaces.
There's also some new vomit-inducing screenshots of the Start Menu colors of Windows 9. It's still nice that the menu is coming back, but they seem to be going full-kindergarten in terms of appearance.
Note to self: Wait for WindowBlinds to be ported to Windows 9 before upgrading.
which means they are bought and used for many years if not a decade or longer
your $50 or whatever you pay your ISP a month is not enough to afford new equipment every year
It would be, but bribing a bunch of congressmen and FCC officials takes a big chunk out of the budget.
What "Time"? These are Corporate Executives. When they break the law their company pays cash. Jail is the legal system for people who dont have enough money to pay Government Fines.
Sooo.... They will pay a bribe to settle charges of bribery?

Why, Why can't Apple sue everyone over THIS!!! Copying a smartphone with a sealed case and no SD card slot, fine. Rounded corners? LAWSUIT!
What do you expect from a bunch of Japanese tourists?
there are only 2 things here: 1. radiation treatment 2. bone marrow from an x-man my money is on #2.
Only problem is that the best match for super-healing happens to have an adamantium skeleton. Good luck getting bone marrow out of Wolverine!
I really hope it's real 3D this time, not just some stereoscopic trickery where you need special glasses to eat your hamburger.
Oh No! That french fry is coming right at me!
Would be happy to != able to.

Obviously the iPhone was designed by men because the 6+ is only 5.5 inches...
Problem is that politicians are even better at counting dollars than counting votes.
This is star wars, though.
"Eh... just tell the CGI guys to take it out later."
They really should have the drones explode on even the slightest hit like the one that Chewbacca shot on Hoth in Empire Strikes Back.

I want MIcrosoft to stop making awful Operating systems.

CEO Voice: "So you're saying if we *upgrade*, it will cost us money. I don't like what I'm hearing."
FIFY.
Something simple like "with all other factors processed within x milliseconds being equal, save the closest one on the right."
I may br showing my age but I remember when MTV showed music videos.

Works on my S3.
Better yet just have the whole thing controlled by a California-sourced iPhone and the kill switch will be built in!
Easier said than done. Portuguese is one of the most difficult languages to learn.
I have been advocating construction off wind turbines around Washington D.C for years for the same reason.
Then why do they include earthquakes, tornadoes, and Godzilla?
