  1. Unforeseen Consequences on Change In Experiment Will Delay Shuttle Launch · · Score: 0

The administrator's very insistent that we get a reading from this latest sample. I gather they went to some lengths to get it.

Replace Britain with Japan and you have the beginnings of the "Battle Royale" Program. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Royale

This is only semi-related, but this reminds me of one of my Dad's more humorous memories. It was high school and Dad was on a track team. He and his best friend were competing in a meet but his friend was terribly sick. During the race, the friend's illness caused him to puke and also lose bowel control. Dad finishes the race and cheers his sick friend on as the poor guy manages to finish the race with diarrhea running down his leg. Gross. So afterward, they grab their fresh clothes, put up the gym shorts and hit the showers. Afterward when dad's getting dressed, the sick friend emerges after a thorough cleaning, gets dressed and goes to get his gym bag and its nasty contents...but it wasn't there. Someone had STOLEN the gym bag! To this day, they still laugh thinking about what the thief's face looked like when he opened the stolen bag.

Unfortunately for you, Mr. Rednip, most free access points are near businesses, and most businesses have camera surveillance. True anonymity is hard to come by.

  6. DO NOT WANT on Mozilla Preparing To Scrap Tabbed Browsing? · · Score: 1

I would rather have multiple tab bars than have a side bar. I would also hate tab grouping, because that means I have to click twice to switch back and forth between different pages on my site. As a webmaster running a forum, I often have up to 30 or so tabs open at once - active topics, my wiki, gmail, and then dozens and dozens of threads and pages that have recently been posted that I need to moderate.

  7. Ah, so that's why... on Biden Reveals Location of Secret VP Bunker · · Score: 1

I was staying in the Omni Shoreham hotel, which is like a block away, and I noticed that the Observatory was all pixeled out on Google Maps. It makes sense, though, that's it's a bunker site. I can't say I'm surprised at all. There are bunkers all over DC.

  8. Encourage With Tipping on Unpaid Contributors Provide Corporate Tech Support · · Score: 1

If the company wants to support these free tech support people, they should set up the support forums to make it easy to send rewards to the problem solvers like cash donations, business referrals, or even just thank yous. It would be extra nice if the corporation would also add incentives as well. A karma-type system of points would also help, as it would provide competitiveness and an ongoing work to be proud of. Also, I just had a funny mental image: ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: Helped 100 People Remove Spyware
