    This method is reactive rather than predictive. When a new spam blast is sent out, it can only start filtering after it reverse engineers the template, a critical delay which means a higher % of spam messages will get past than against virtually all predictive methods. Meanwhile the spammers are just going to generate the template itself from a template.

    Sometimes a dumb mistake can be dumb luck. For instance, if the best diagnostician in the country misdiagnoses a patient and orders radiation which would then wipe out his immune system and leave him doomed to the infection that is really his underlying problem, dosing the wrong patient might work out in the end. It could happen.

    The developers in question are in California, an 'At Will' employment state. The employer at any time and for absolutely no stated reason can hand any employee final payment and walk him out. The only recourse the employee has is that if he is terminated without cause, he is eligible for unemployment benefits which are paid from the employer's insurance company, which leads to higher insurance rates. It's not a terrible system, and developers who have a pair and a brain get on well enough without having to take significant abuse.

    Mickey Mouse, and the Ears, are registered trademarks of Disney. Steamboat Willie, et. al., are the copyrightable works. There's a huge difference between issuing Steamboat Willie on a rogue DVD and selling your product with Disney ears for a logo.

    You need to look at the upfront cost of the C++ developer -- including his personal impact on the environment -- against the ongoing higher cost of php. What's the ROI of a doubled development footprint against a 1/10 maintenance footprint? 1 year? 10?

    The vast majority of my applicants are foreign-born, and freshly or recently moved to Australia. So far the only Aussie to apply to my most recent position was referred by one of my Aussie devs.
