  1. Tim's Response on Views on Violence in Video Games · · Score: 0

A decent response to a rather flawed argument, although he does play some of the same bad logic games, but to a much lesser degree.
Geh, I wonder if people who argue against video game violence just take logic classes to figure out what they shouldn't do, and then do it...

That the United States did not officially occupy or annex Germany and Japan after World War II, but instead it unofficially made them its satellite states. In France, Britain, Germany, Japan, and many other countries you will find U.S. Military installations. How many of those countries have a base in the United States? None.
The United States does indeed have a global military hegemony, and does indeed have a group of defacto satellite states.

See the thing about growing the meat in containers is that it would not have the same flavour as the kind taken from animals. The reason that your steak or hamburger meat has flavour is that it is saturated with uric acid and other biproducts that it is saturated with by the blood. Just the nutrients won't do any good. Now you may ask how it would be different. Just try Kosher beef, and you'll understand the difference. Besides after you stop eating meat for a while, you notice that if you try it again it hasn't got much taste.

  11. general sort of rant thingy on More Anime Washing Ashore In 2001 · · Score: 1

I don't know about you, but I get tired of people constantly claiming that all anime is porn. Its not, I think that series like Tenchi would have proven that. Then there is violence - not all anime is violent, Dragonball Z, which is probably has the lowest production cost of any show I've seen is not an example of what all anime is like. Many of the better shows do involve violence, but it is essential to the plot - Ranma 1/2 has heavy martial arts combat in it, but the characters are all martial artists, and it usually takes a humourous turn. A classic example of non-offensive violence is Urusei Yatsura where would the show be if Lum did not shock Ataru constantly?! On the subject of Rurouni Kenshin on Toonami, I could see them changing the language a bit - although I've never seen the private release eps, only the fan sub ones - other than that I can't think of too much that would get changed, there is a bit of blood, but not too much. Heres to another successful year of Toonami!

Oh come off of it, we all know that trading Mp3s is just as bad as pirating software, when looked at legally. Why do we complain so much about Napster? I have it, but most of the tunes I have gotten off of it have been ones that I already own...on a media that I cannot transfer to my PC, i.e. record. Any songs that I don't own that I download, are just sort of a listen before you buy sort of deal, then if I like it I'll go out to a local store, such as a Circuit City, or other similar place where they sell the cd's for about $9-12. So please pike it with the complaints about how "unfair" it is that Napster is being sued, if you were an artist you would want every single fucking penny, too!
