The Prime Minister of Italy got his job in large part because he controls something like 90% of the media there.
I could imagine that along with his general right wing Agenda, Prime Minister Silvio Whats-his-name might want to protect the interests of media companies. Or rather, the media company, since he is the only one.
Wow, whether it is people selling pipes that might be used to smoke marijuana, or kiddiez running "FTP my w4r3z!!!!" sites, Ashcroft won't back down from a hard fight.
Ashcroft doesn't dance, smoke or drink. I think he has too much time on his hands.
There are exceptions to this for speech that is used clearly to harass, intimidate, threaten or extort another person.
For example, it would probably be illegal in the United States for Supermarket Chain A to run an ad that says "Supermarket Chain B's food is poisoned!".
However, it would probably have to be a case where speech is very obviously used for such purposes. SCO hasn't yet reached this point.
I think "Most" is a bit of an overstatement. It's hard getting numbers on this, but I would think that if the United States makes up about 5% of the worlds population, it would have to have about 10 or 20 times as many users to make up the majority.
Too true! I remember the first time I really had the internet in my home, typing every possible word into Y! and seeing where it would take me, for 12 hours. 5 years later, it is more like Slashdot...Google News...e2...livejournal...etc. Of course, this also happens in real life. I have lived in Tainan, Taiwan, for 2 months. When I first got here, I would just follow the streets until I got lost. Now, after 2 months, I end up going to about 3 or 4 regular places every day. I think it has something to do with human cognition...comfort vs. exploration. Well, this is all offtopic. Thanks for your insight!
There is this one site called www.hornyteens.com , and after very careful research, I think some of those girls are actually probably in their early twenties, or late twenties. I want my money back.
e2 currently has 449,635 entries. With 74,307 users, and 200,096,109 hits.
But those numbers are boring. The point is, wikipedia users never go to parties where the top contributor does an impersonation of Richard Nixon playing Dance Dance Revolution. And that is what I look for out of my encyclopaedias.
Since there doesn't seem to be any other way to deal with SPAM, I don't object to this. Especially if this is just a temporary measure.
It could be argued that if people go all out with these measures, in a while SPAM will no longer be sent, and then they can all be relaxed. But what will probably happen is this will just be another measure that will get circumvented.
Well, people follow their own interests, but that is a tautology. I could spend 30,000 dollars building the best rose garden in the world around my house, and is that "following my interests"? It is, but only because having a really expensive rose garden is now defined as part of myself, and as part of my interests. So really, the entire process is defined by tautology.

There are lots of laws in Taiwan, too, and no one pays attention to them there either.
Some of us are looking for free cock on the web!
Don't confuse a humanitarian like Mao with a vicious fuckwit like Lao.
I might have to log in as root to play fceu-svga, but hey, I don't have to worry about weird crap going on.
And this is opposed to the safety of an internal combustion engine?

Since I run Debian, I should read Slashdot from a year or so ago, to read about all the latest programs I can apt-get.

The usual disclaimers apply.

At first I thought it said "expensive, noisy case" and thought it was more about SCO...

We are scheduled to get rid of pop-up ads right after we deal with SPAM once and for all.
Don't hold your breath, please.

Yes, I knew that. :)
