Roger Ebert can go to hell. He probably gets to watch all his movies first-run, not after they've been scratched-up/worn-out after having been watched 1000 times.
At my last job, the graphics guys would design the site in Dreamweaver (actually I think it was some other app on a G4 Mac, but WYSISUCK nonetheless) and have the programmers do the hard stuff.
My being one of the said programmers, I can tell you first-hand that being handed over unformatted, bastard HTML really, really, really sux0rs the big one.
They make profit out of battle.net by making it the only online network you can use to play some of your favorite games (think Diablo II, great single-player game but you can only play it multiplayer with battle.net. and maybe LAN?) On battle.net, they can enforce their CD-KEYs, whereas on clone networks, they cannot. This forces anyone who wants to play online to buy their own legitimate copy.
I played for about a month until I realized that the game just wasn't fun enough to justify playing a game in a horrendously ancient outdated 3d engine. And riding around in those slow slow slow boats is teh suck!
I actually never tried playing as a female character for some reason. I think I would have if the female character models were done better. I played the Rogue character in Diablo 1 just because of the "zoom" key!
news for nerds. stuff that doesn't matter.

The staff at www.boblinux.com has successfully installed Linux on Bob's computer. Installation instructions can be found at www.linuxnewbie.org. Bob hopes to get his ethernet connection working so he can submit his success story to be displayed on/.'s front page.
This is the perfect chance for a meaningful experiment into what different people think about the same thing
This just in... 9 out of 10 Spaniards like ice cream and lollipops. 4 out of 10 South Africans dislike math homework. Jonny's sister is a big poopyhead. More news as it breaks...
Remember that these are just kids, I don't think we're gonna find all that much profundity.
tech is already frustrating enough when the instructions are in english! "mediaglyphs"? that's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard.
as for sharing information, what information? will these pda's be nothing more than a web forum? without some content creation tools, i see little use for sharing of information. and what kind of content is really worth creating on a hand held pda (within the grasp of a 10-15 year old)?
i'm sorry, but i'm highly skeptical of these schemes involving handing out useless tech to kids. if you want to change the world, give these kids scholarships, not pieces of plastic and metal.
My prediction is that certain weapons/armor will not be usable until you have reached a certain experience level. So even if L33TH4X0r6969 has a million virtual dollars, he won't be able to spend it on anything meaningful to his character.
What I look for in my games nowdays is the element of outside interference - items not in the control of either player (or any player, in the case of MP games). That's where the real creativity and brilliance comes in - the capability and flexibility to cope with situations which could not be reasonably forseen (though adept planning will make coping much easier).
Since when have us USians called french fries chips!? Here, we call them fries.
An obvious double agent... or a disgrace to our nation

Oops, I'm ranting.
Sheesh, haven't you ever had a customer-service job? They're just worker bees doing their job!
Who are you? Rainman? It would take just as long to count all the spaces we wanted to delete as it would to just keep saying "back" a bunch of times.
Metaphors? I think they're called cliches :P
Didn't we all already know this?
Wow that was actually a very good argument. Mind if I quote you? Was that original thought or are you paraphrasing someone else?
/. without sounding like a sarcastic ass!
Note: this is NOT sarcasm. It's just so hard to agree with someone on
You're smart.

Luckily I downloaded EclipseOSX one day before it got taken down. It r0x0rs! I hate OSX but I love WinXP when it looks like OSX :)
It's funny cuz it'll never happen!
I'm not going over to your house, man. Is that bat-wing pie?

"more stabler" is way awkward, bro.
Finally we may rejoice! For once Apple has surpassed the user-friendliness of Linux! Let the merriment begin!

Hacking games to sell virtual items!
Isn't that what software pirating already is?
cant be worce than these...
Well, now you jinxed it. Way to go.
Environmentalism? Probably the only point they tried hammering through our heads was that fire==bad (which it is not)

So, tell us... what games DO you play these days?
it's "voila" not "wallah"
