  1. Re:Photography boards on Photoshop Fails At Counterfeit Prevention · · Score: 1

I agree totally that just because I don't like the price I don't have the right to steel something, which is why I have not stolen Photoshop. I use Photoshop Elements. There are features of Photoshop that I would love to have, however. I think its a poor business decision on the part of Adobe, and that was my initial point-- if they lowered the price, I think they would have far less piracy and in the end they would have more sales and more profit. Just my two cents.

My point exaclty... Everyone who is into digital photography has a copy of photoshop. I seriously doubt that all these people paid for it. It seems to me Adobe would be wise to charge for like $40 for Photoshop and vastly broaden the base of paying customers.

I am an amatuer photographer. Its really funny how just about EVERYONE I know who is into photography has a copy of photoshop. Hmmm... They can't afford a new $500 flash, but they can afford $500 for Photoshop.

Its obvious to me the Photoshop is way, way overpriced. Now, Adobe is free to charge whatever they want for it, but the average Joe is not willing to dump $500 on software.

True, counterfeiting software is not a "right", but its bound to happen when companies overcharge. Why do you think people are so quick to download music and copy CDs?

It just seems so obvious (to me anyway) that the first company to allow downloands of portable mp3s will be a winner. I would happily pay $1.00 for each mp3 downloaded, as long as I can take it anywhere. I really think that it would be easier to just pay $1.00 for an mp3 than to try to find someone who has it already and copy it. Sure, people are going to get mp3s without paying, but people will dot that no matter what. If its easier to pay than to "steal" it, I think most people will simply pay the minimal fee. Why is this such a hard idea to grasp and why isn't anyone doing it?

As it stands, why in the world would I want music that I can only play on one computer. Sure, I can burn a CD, but who cares about that? I don't want to have to lug a bunch of CDs around.

Every time corporations spend more money someone, somewhere along the line has a job and more jobs are being created. Even if company A is only buying new computers, someone, somewhere has to be employed to sell the computers, build the computers, build the software to go on the computers, support the computers, and on and on and on.

I have to laugh when people act as though software jobs will never return. We just have to learn what niche of software we fit into. Software QA, management, and specialized programming jobs will continue to be available, and I think they will grow tremendously. Its natural to be pessimistic, but I think there is much reason to be optimistic if you are a kickass techie, so this new should come without surprise.
