  1. Forget something? on Genderplay in Videogames · · Score: 1

I know people have brought up Samus Aran....but for some crazy reason the article seems to forget about the Metroid series.

Probably because such a thing totally destorys their warped view point. Guess what? About 90something% of gamers are 13+ males. Also not every game is T&A...just the bad ones.

Sorry, but the parent here is overrated and in error by a long shot.

Yes it is quite illegal for you and I to download/copy the games and play them on an emulator. Why? We don't own the rights to say Super Mario Bros or the NES hardware. Hense any emulation done outside Nintendo is probably illegal.

Oh wait...Nintendo DOES own the rights to the (S)NES and all those games they made! They can do ANYTHING they want with those properties. If they want to emulate a NES on the GameCube and feed it the Metroid ROM, perfectly legal.

They'll tell us that emulation is illegal cause for us, it is. They on the other hand can do whatever the hell they want with their games.

    Hypocritical.....pthhh

When they were discussing the GF4 they said that no amount of work would get that series to work with independant mutlimonitor (different res, refresh, etc).

    WRONG!

There is a simple registry tweak that will enable a checkbox to "Treat multiple outputs on an nView-capable board as seperate display devices". All that has to be done is disable nView in its control panel and apply this to the registry:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak]
    "NvCplExposeWin2kDualView"=dword:00000001

Reset the system and find the checkbox, I have it under advanced> Desktop utilites.

  5. Re:The cards hold 4.4K on Nintendo Embedding Classic Games on Trading Cards · · Score: 1

Actually most the games seem to come on about 4+ cards. From pocket.ign.com ExciteBike review:

"Excitebike will also be available for the Game Boy Advance e-Reader device as a pack of five cards. Players can scan the game into their system without the need of a GameCube, cable, or Animal Crossing game."

Plus we're talking about FIRST gen NES games, I think the cart size on those is:

I got Ice Climber clocked in at 32K PRG (I'm guessing Program) and 8K CHR, whatever that means. I'm sure a little compression or not actually using all that data in the 32K ROM accounts for that.

  8. Re:AMD vs. Intel on Rolling Your Own Business Desktops? · · Score: 1

    Uh..no...

The Athlon CPU themselves have never had any real problems, it was usually the motherboard chipset. And the stability problems have largely gone poof. I had my share of problems with the KT133 chip from VIA. Their newer 266A is as solid as the many P4s in my dorm here. I haven't crashed this computer (W2K) once in 5 months or so.

You can keep heating down by not going to the highest GHZ you can buy. From that massive HSF P4s get I can't imagine the heating difference is all that different anyway.

Bit by bit AMD/VIA are increasing the stability of their systems. I don't see Intel being able to hold on to that advantage for too much longer.

  10. Worm Light on Nintendo Gameboy Advance, In Advance · · Score: 2

The reviewer had a real bone to pick about the lack of a backlight in the unit. If you ever been around a Gamegear you know how those lights eat up battries. I know Nyko is already making a ne Worm Light that works with the GBA (even has the pass through so you can link and light at the same time..I think). 10 bucks gets you a light that doesn't need extra battries and it barely seems to shorten the battry life in my GBC. If you get a GBA you should just go ahead now and get the light, it helps even during the day. And nothing beats a little GB before bed :)

You're talking about the Freestyle Pro, and I still use mine all the time. It takes a little getting used to, but i rocked with it on X wing Allience. You can set where the dead zone and limits are, which is great cause every game needs a different feel. I think it was a nicely made pad, i also use it as my gamepad for my emulators (you can turn the motion sensor off, the Dpad is normally a HAT switch). Just thought you wanna know.
