It took you 2.2 seconds to work out what he was talking about. If he were using metric you could have worked it out in 2.1 seconds (three millieighteenths of a ninety-sixth of a fortnight.)
That's the beauty of being retired. You have the time to stand up and fight about small stuff that you wouldn't bother with if you were working. Very good for the soul.
Maybe it's an east coast/west coast thing. The last time someone used the term tinny to refer to a can of beer was last night, when my Dad asked me for one.
Well, that's because the TARDIS telepathically translates everything for you. No doubt because of the way it works it also translates the accents to fit the roles.
My mother has an ongoing dispute with the electric company. The bill always seems to come to a value that will be rounded up, and despite the fact that no-one pays their bill with cash they round the total. She complains every month, and usually the person on the phone tells her to just pay the amount she actually owes, but then next month there's a 2 cent balance carried over. Now obviously she's not concerned about 2 cents ever month, but if you say something costs 98 cents, you should only charge people that amount, it's basic honesty.
I would love for someone to get refused for a job for not giving their login, then take it to court and see what happens from there.
Even better, for a member of a minority to hand over their login, then be refused, then take them to court for not hiring someone for being part of a minority.
What if there's a child running out from one side of the road, a war veteran in an out of control wheelchair sliding on to the other side of the road, a cat jumping out of a tree into the middle of the road, an asteroid striking right behind you, and a tsunami coming from in front of you? What then, huh?
I remember my local zoo growing up would sell bags of animal poo for people to put on their gardens. Legend has it that it was great for keeping stray cats away, as they would smell the lion and tiger poo and run scared. I can't really talk from experience though...
Again, the fact that this car does not serve the needs of every single American does not make it a pile of junk. If even 10% of the population bought one specific model the people with shares in that company would throw a party. The people who drive more than 25 miles to work will continue driving whatever they drive now, and the people who drive less than 25 miles will buy this car and save a whole load of money on gas.
That's a very insightful comment. I hadn't considered that position before. If I could transfer my +1 mod to you I would, as you have the more thought out comment.
It's the implied threat to anyone else of the same race as the victim. If someone owes me money, and I kill them to send a warning to other people who owe me money that's a crime under things like RICO. If I kill a black person to send a warning to other black people then that's a hate crime.
Of course, if I randomly kill someone and he happens to be black, then that's not a hate crime, but it will probably be portrayed as one, which is why I can understand people thinking hate crimes are just beat-ups.
Well, it's true that for that session where he lost $500k he's only $100k better off than your "Average Joe" who loses $500k. Where he made his money is that he was playing it at almost 50-50 odds, so each time he loses $500k statistically he has one session where he's up $500k. If you have enough money to wait for it to balance out, you average up $50k each time you play. 5% return on your million dollars invested isn't bad for 1 night's work!
In the past I've been a fan of the quote: "If you don't assume everyone else is an idiot, it makes it easier to avoid looking like one yourself." Looks like I need to take some of my own advice. Thanks for the info.
I can count the number of sexual partners I've had on my genitals. Does that count for anything?

Where's the troll who was posting that xkcd to every story a while back? He'd be on topic now!

You should take tinnies with you in your tinnie: less weight.

A tinny is a can and a stubby is a bottle. You put them both into a stubby holder though...
I won't be interested until I can buy a rasberry pi with bitcoin.

The facts of life are conservative.

Did you notice Europe a couple of hundred years ago? War is part of the human condition. We progress by finding ways around that.

I have an answer to reactor containment vessel embrittlement: don't operate your reactors for 20 years after the end of their design life.

It's kinda like saying "no offense" right after you insult someone.
Freedom of speech is important, but we should sensor the internet
Is the equivalent of:
Your mother's a whore, no offense.
You make friends with the roulette dealer, then agree to split the profits with him.

I just use a usb drive with a retractable connector, achieves much the same end result.
