That's bullshit, an action is only relevant in its context. Asking "What's the problem" is not the same as "Not complying". But hey I don't have enough facts to say anything, but from what was presented I see no reason to talk about not complying.
Actually there are several Linux ARM tablets released, they have just been to expensive and low powered to really matter. It's just now that we have fast enough ARM processors, iPad manage to drive 1024x768 that requires lots of CPU/GPU that haven't been available.
I just spent $1000 on an iPad... Pay $100 for a developer license
Think that is per year to actually being able to run a program..
iPhone is hot and pretty nice to use that's about it, if you want to be able to do anything non standard it's not a good phone to buy. Many people here like to do non standard things. Sure if you want expensive mass market then all you need is hot and nice to use, but everything can't be expensive, and I'm glad that what we get is not crippled.
Anyway it's not about Linux it's about ARM selling devices that will be able to run Win Mobile at some point, if the netbook saga is any indicator.
Agreed, it's very hard to play games an hour at a time you need a solid chunk of time to concentrate on them. I would really like to be able to skip trough a game in high speed just to be able to remember what happened in the game, and not having to play it all again.
if you use their GPLed code to produce something that doesn't connect to their servers, you don't have to follow this policy at all. The only slightly dubious thing is that they do seem to want to restrict distribution of clients that could connect to their servers, even if they could also be used in other ways.
So it's a blah blah story.. I mean I think it's ok if they try to get after clients that state "no no you shouldn't use this to connect to Linden labs servers" which is always scriptkiddie bullshit..

Hardware TPM Hacked

· Score: 1
Actually pouring acid on chips are standard procedure I've seen it done on video..:-)
As far as I know most TPM devices (if not the standard) says that hard hacks by accessing the chip can not be prevented by design. As I said I'm not sure if this is in documents from Trusted computing group but I know I've read it in info material.
It's "impossible" to prevent hard hacks.
not a big fan but KDE shipped with the latest Ubuntu is pretty stable. Lots of stuff I don't need but it has been rock stable over the last month for me.
it's not like Apple ever "borrowed" from the open source community without giving back is it?
The BSD crowd shouldn't care about that, Apple can do almost what they want with the code. But for Linux not getting the drivers for 3D accelerators, SOC models or other kind of hardware, just because Google have to reinvent the wheel, is really sad.
I worked in Peru and Bolivia in 2001, and I say just go somewhere, most captials in 3rd world countries have multiple NGO offices, go there and ask. Network is hard since you will most likely work for a telecom company instead, but local universities could of course be glad to get help.
As far as I know Flash Lite is so different from Flash proper, that it doesn't really make much sens to use it. But then again you might actually have seen Flash Lite used?
Well what he does mention seems like they have the same style all over (lots of code).. You can read more than just the TOC (1/3 of every page), at the site..
Because we want to see PixelQi screens, it's apparently a big difference from the one on the OLPC. This is not interesting because it's a tablet, it's just the screen.
In other words, you'll never see a performance boost from turning off virtual memory, it doesn't make any sense why you would, unless your OS sucks at it
Or your swap performance suck so much that you rather get "out of memory" errors. But you are right with fast disks swap should always be on, but there are cheap modern systems that have such abysmal disk performance that you don't want to bother with it..
Many people are ok with using code to describe [[hyper links]], so what you want is a conversion between the two. Since there are no good WSIWYG wikis, there are no good dual mode wikis..
If you have a 1GB binary that gets loaded half of it can be evicted from AM, the next time that is needed you will fetch that binary from the filesystem. So my system still swaps, in away.
BTW utilize 80% of my memory because of cache usage..
If you hate swap file, disable it and see how your computer works then.
Been running without swap file since 2004, if I go to swap I'm doing something stupid anyways. There are good things with swap files, but your computer handles fine without it. Hell I even use ram disks to get better performance in some cases, since I use flash as "secondary memory" I sadly have to use ram disks.
Think I'm going to start using the term Primary memory even though I thought it was a stupid term when I started using computers.
Your N70 is not 10 inch and had a lot worse battery life, the question is how much lower in weight you can go, the SmartQ 5" weights 160grams and the 7" 480g, but everything that has a screen around 10" weights between 700g to 1 Kg. I think it's going to take awhile before people manage to design really light weight platforms. There is something missing at the moment to get light devices..

It's also better than the old OLPC screen, they posted a graph (image) descrbing that. The blog post can't be read but the image of the graph can.

Well pouring acid on some poor little chip is a kind of coercion..

I don't think that matters much on PPCs, which is the main reasons for not installing 10.5

Even if you only use 80% of your CPU I'm pretty sure it will choke at some point, because there is always something running.

with canvas you can easily get graphics, and you can do network stuff.
There is a Bird Shazaam app that can identify birds?

Yeah you could pack enough helium in the device it might make the device light.
