Well, I spent one third of my life on Dutch universities but I never heard it. Maybe it's what foreigners say when they make fun of our habits. ``He pulled a Dutch roll there, haha!'':-)
One word: KISS. If you want to keep your customers happy, keep it simple, stupid! But we all know the RIAA is there to make their customers as unhappy as possible, so indeed, they are trying to fix what is not broken. If this goes through I think it will backfire big time.
No matter how much you or me may dislike its practices, the chinese government is the chinese government, and if folks want to get rid of it or change its policies that's going to be up to the chinese people, not to Google.
Oh, I thought that was Bush's job... he got rid of some other governments just fine.
I never had a bad Skype day. In my experience the quality depends mostly on the equipment used and how far the microphone is placed from the speakers. I must say I only skype with people that also use a computer though, so no telephone.
I live in Holland and I have a friend in Australia. I talk to him a lot via Skype. The sound quality is even better than with telephone, and it's a lot cheaper! Video will add a nice new dimension to the experience!
What I don't understand is why you only get 1 point and this lame 'Firefox is better than IE' post is +5, Insightful.
It's a bit weird that in the almost ten years I've been using Linux now they're always going on about how good the open source development model is for innovation, while indeed, just as you say, most programs are not even on par with what's commercially available. Actually, the Mozilla software is the only exception to this I know and use (I haven't tried OpenOffice 2 yet). I must say I am quite disappointed with open source. It's always ready for the desktop in 5 years time, and I don't see that changeing soon. I love Linux because of its configurability, but until the Linux community agrees on a certain standard for the filesystem and the GUI, so companies can easily make software and drivers that work on all distro's, I will use my Mac as my main machine.
A) How is that anonymous? They have your phone number, after all. Presumably, the federal government has the resources to tie that to your name in the event of an emergency, right?
I think in the event of a pandemic the gouvernment has other priorities than tying your name to your phone number.
B) That's great for Europe and the rest of the world, but the next influenza pandemic doesn't seem likely to originate in Vienna or Nice. Does Ho Chi Minh city have such a system in place? Something makes me doubt it.
Every mayor city has a mobile phone system, and implementing the 'send an SMS to every newcomer' system should be trivial.
Exactly. Here in Europe, if you come to a big city you often automatically get an SMS on your mobile phone with info about the sights, where to find a hotel, and how to listen to your voicemail. So they know you're there, and they have your phone number. TGhis can aslo be used to warn you for scary deseases you might have been exposed to, even after you left the city/country, because they have your phone number and the data you were in the danger zone.
What the FSCK is the UN worth if they're dancing to the tune of a stupid company? Apparently they have no opinions of their own. It's time to either dissolve this party of make it meaner and leaner.
I mean: no tabs? The extremely irritatring automatic "We can't find this website" thingy if you make a typo, so you can type in the whole URL again? O, did I mention No tabs?
Never, ever buy something that's just out. You'll be the guinea pig for the company in question to find out about the children's illnesses of the product.
I think you're oversimplifying things a bit. Of course it's important to see the trends, but it's even more important to understand what's going on. Unfortunately, even in science, not everything nature does is well understood, so you still end up learning a lot of reaction mechanisms.
We used a book for that. Come on man, you are just trying to find a way to postpone the inevitable. Learn hard and try to solve all the problems in your textbook, that's the only way to do this. There are things you can do without computers, and this is one of them.
Who cares about the likelihood of losing it?
So I take it you don't want to actually put data on it?
That barbie doll is so funny I almost laughed my head off!
Scheikunde, Utrecht. That may be my problem :-)
You're missing something. In the Finder, do Preferences -> advanced -> show all file extensions.
Apple also hide file extensions by default. It's amazingly annoying, but I never here anyone complain about that, only about MS doing it. Weird.

What's a Dutch roll? I'm Dutch, and I'd like to know.

Is the ink waterproof?

BTW, FP!
Poor Matt Blaze. He and his team will be put in jail because of the DMCA.

In the bin, not on it.
Wow. I think the iceberg is haunted. Or there is an alien base inside.

'Chop!'
Hmmm, maybe there's more to reproduction than dividing alone.
But then he can throw away his powerbook when 10.5 appears. What will that be called, anyway? Sabretooth?
