That is exactly my point Physical evolution is no longer possible so nature has found a way by which intellectual evolution will take over. Once everybody becomes internet entities there will be no more children and the population would be stable. In such an environment the smarter entities would thrive and evolve
In my opinion humans have been just another step on the evolutionary ladder. Evolution has taken place in three stages- first Biological where single celled organisms went upto multi celled and tissued and along the way developed thousands of different cell reactions. SECOND Structural in which the organisms developed various varied and wierd adaptations like wings on a mammal or huge lizards and the like starting from the cambrian explosion The THIRD is intellectual evolution. When humans came on this earthg they soon(in evolutionary terms) were so well adapted that they stopped evolution in its track. There were various factors like they fact humans allowed the physical misfits to survive amongst them and like. But nature always finds a way and evolution started to become intellectual where the smartest people were better off than the ones who coould hunt the best(NRA opinion to the contrary notwithstanding) So the next step in evolution wopuld be where we would create obots or internet identities which would be much more capable and intelligent than us and which would soon become the dominant species. Some people might think of this as a disaster scenario but to tell u the truth we wouldnt even know Did the monkeys get to know when their human cousins overtook them NO! and in the same way the takeover would be gradual ovewr generations and we wouldnt even get to know. In this scenario we would have two different possibilities- In evolution when a species evolves either the whole species evolves and the old species no longer exists or the new species coexists with the old. Thus all of us could become internet entities or maybe some would prefer to remain flesh and blood
I think one should not consider management to be evil all the time. U can probably take up the issue with your manager and i am sure as long as the company gets what it wants it wont mind your open sourcing it. Worst come to worst u can post what happens to/. and the company wont be able to ignore the opinion of a million geeks
I wonder if the chip reqs distilled water or will anything like coke or other modern poisons do? Also does that mean now my notebook could get dehydrated?
I wonder how the DSL compares with cable Also as far as I know this is possible only where the telcom operator has already updated the lines in preparation for such a service
I suppose that is the method u r using to keep the black population in the states under control Just open a liquor shop and gun shop on every corner. Frustate them by denying a sensitive education system and vopila u have population control And Oh u cld also call Pinkerton and leave a message I dont like so and so coz hes black and THAT IS Dangerous(Sarcastic)
Just to be sure about the actual day it was counted (sic). U speak with the pschological mindset of a lawyer in saying that data should be destroyed just because one company indulged in illegal activities and got caught at it. Also the reason RDBMSs sell is that the actually help to reduce data redundancy without losing any data. The preservation of all this data can lead to unexpected benefits(aka data mining) which one can not be aware of at the moment of making daily backups and to throw it away is wasteful. Also I suppose the community always considers data as valuable as unlike a lawyer they dont automatically think everything to be incriminating
I am a newbie starting out with Linux. Is there any resource which gives a small how-to for backups. A complete book looks intimidating at first sight.
The article says that the combined company will have the best of Vector Processing from Cray and MTA from TERA. This I feel was something that could have happened much sooner and really didnt need a merger of companies. supercomputers are no longer a genies lamp ; they are pretty commonplace and their are lots of ways of building them. Heck even PC's are now multiprocessor and as a user has proposed a cluster of Beowulf might be a solution. While I reserve comment on that something similar has been done BY href="http://www.cdac.org.in/index.html" CDAC (The centre for development of advanced computing ) in India where after the US govt banned exports of CRAYS in 1980's they developed a supercomputer PARAM within 3 yrs using 486 chips(which of course the US govt had not banned the export of) by utilizing the massively parrallel concept
Emergency! Emergency! Earth base calling Orbital Command. The earthians have discovered our plan for mass destruction using PC viruses. They are gathering a lynch mob and my deputies at Intel and AMD are already gone. Request emergency evacuation. Lt Commander Ghoul Earth Base Seattle
For your information Be is the only mainstream OS that I know of that is pervasively multi processing While that may not be very important right now as most of us use single processor machines but when multiprocessor PCs hit the market Be will have a head start. The kind of headstart that Apple OS had when it was the only GUI
What I would really like to know is that why do the congressmen make all this hullaboo about increasing H1B's . Might be they are afraid too many "colored" people might get into the country and ruin the whitey whitey scene.Note the report specifies that it is mostly asians and hispanics getting in. Why not just make the cap on H1B unlimited with the precondition that the job be advertised for at least a month for US nationals and if no qualified gut can be got at a reasonable I repeat resaonable cost just throw it open to the world
Have u thought out the fact that in order to automatically filter out ads the network would have to insert a special signal at the start and end of the ad and advertisers would not allow them to do that Also wonder when TIVO will be available in India
Well you might have your reasons for not trusting the "BIG" corporations but I myself would not like to be such a cynic. Moreover I do feel while it is all well and good to go trustbusting I hope we dont overdo it.(Now please dont go and say I work for Microsoft coz I dont I am just a student)

Most IRA kind of movements are dealing with Democratic govts who can be pressured into conceding demands when the costs to their citizens increases beyond a point. The US of A on the other hand happens to be a Police State with over 57 different agencies with jurisdiction over the suburbs of Frisco(just an example Texas might have a locality with even more jurisdictions;))
Their is just too much scrutiny for terrorists to get through and even if they do manage to kill some commoners the Feds dont care its just fewer votes they have to throw away......

Yes but Congress has not ratified it so technically it is not bound by the treaty. For that matter The US has also "signed " the CTBT but not ratified. While on the topic of treaties the US has signed and ratified the ABM treaty but it is violating it by developing the ballistic missile treaty. Anybody in his right mind would trust North Korea before the US to keep its word.
Or to act rational...After all we know the military brains of only one nation in the world were crazy enough to use Nuclear Weapons in battle and we all know who the crazy farts were...
I find it highly amusing that American books will always talk about the danger of unrestricted Russian facilities when it is The US of A which along with a few other rogue states like Libya havnt signed the Biological weapons convention.
Sadly....

At the Delhi College of Egg we have a Linux lab and an NT lab. Guess where the students spend their time?
Maybe the reason is that the german govt. is afraid that microsoft will put in backdoors for the CIA and NSA to exploit Cant do that with open source
