Isn't hostile what geeks do best - I mean, we have to hold back on it while working, what better place to take it out on someone that completely doesn't deserve it than Slashdot?:P
Did you ever try to play anything on a LAN that people were playing Quake1 on? My gosh, we'd be in the middle of all-night Starcraft lans and 3 people would decide to play Quake. We are talking about 1-2 10/100 hubs cascaded together with less than 12 people and that's all, and Quake would bring StarCraft to a screeching and grinding halt or at least close to standstill.
We ended up banning Quake1 from local LANs from then.
I've used Modboot along with Ghost 2002 to perfectly copy Windows XP systems. Drive Image Pro somewhat works, but not always. Ghost has never given me issue.
Modboot is really nice in that you can make a network boot disk for pretty much any network card that was or is in production without much hassle.
In the computer lab at my school, I am about to replace some P5's with brand new machines and those lowly P5's have been running Setiathome constantly for at least four years without a hiccup.
The only way a CPU would die from being "overused" is if it didn't have sufficient cooling or if it was a bad chip in the first place.
So, what happens if a kid brings their netgear MR814 router with them and every time he gets cut off, he simply changes the Internet-side MAC address of the router through the handy-dandy html-based admin tool?
Would you *reallY* like normal users installing MySql and postgresql on their machines with the easiest to use options (read:insecure options) by default? Using Berkely db or adabas is much more sane.
Wow, can you believe it - 41 million people have signed up for this thing, I know I did.
In other, unrelated news, the FBI has gotten approval to electronically eaves drop on approximately 41 million phone lines from the Department of Fatherlan...errr Homeland Defense.
2.4.22? Could be a little while, maybe a couple weeks - Gentoo developers, at least kernel-wise, tend to apply all the best patches to the kernels all the time anyway. Basically, if you are running a new kernel that says 2.4.20-r7 or the like, chances are that all the new patches in the vanilla 2.4.22 are already built into your current kernel.
If you were masochistic enough to run NT4 workstation, you would now be suffering Blaster32 headaches from here until the eternity because M$ no longer supports NT and will not be making any patches for it. PERIOD.
Personally, I am very excited about where GNU/Linux is heading. Sure, I may not run RedHat anymore and have switched to Gentoo, but what excites me about myriads of people switching from Windows to Suse and Redhat or even Lindows is application availability!
We now have Wolfenstein RtcW, Wolf:ET, NWN, and others all running natively in GNU/Linux. In 5 years time, even the Sims will come with a Linux client on install media.
I don't care what distros people use, as long as they are on GNU/Linux. If 100,000 people decide to switch from MS to RedHat, that gives me more voice even though I am on Gentoo and gives those Debian freaks more power too;)
Finally be able to play a 16 player lan game of quake AND any other game without the other game suffering...
Perhaps Air? Sorry, you have to have a license to breathe that air! Patenting genes and software are just baaaaad ideas IMHO.
An Nvidia GeForce 6800, why do you ask? ;)
:P

Are you stupid or just dont read the f'ing articles...this is for StarCraft. What type of hardware do you think you need for friggin' starcraft?
Post your email address and I'll tell you ;)

They came from the future and took our Jahrubs! Those Goo-backs!
Maybe if AVG/Mcafee/FProt/Norton Antivirus was among those 10, you wouldn't need to reinstall every month?
Updated drivers followed by Antivirus and Mozilla is what goes on my Windoze boxen first.
W00h000! Not a problem for me and the rest of us idiots that don't know how to vote ;)
Are I don thnk has ani affect.
I have asthma - if this ever gets passed where I live, you bet your sweet ass I will be going to fight this in court.
You are almost correct, they are like banks but they are *more* like loan sharks and money racketeers.

Uh, yes, yes they did. In fact, I wouldn't be suprised if this new CD is just a rip of Gentoo's AA Live CD
This is true, and that is why I am downloading it right now - but, if you do not qualify, then it is not free.

Only one problem with that statement - StarOffice is *not* free, it is $79.95 - OpenOffice is the free one.

What, is the above AC a 40 year old debian dev by chance?

I know everyone is gonna flame and call me a n00b, but I love my nano. Thank goodness Gentoo uses nano for installation rather than vi!
