Ah, too bad. At least I was able to get my hands on an unedited 16-volume set of Burton's translation of Arabian Nights. Some pretty racy stuff in there for a 13-year old! Funny thing was, I had no interest in that musty old stuff until my mom told me not to read them. Ever since then I've been on the lookout for anything published before 1900!
Why do you focus on Israel? Take a look at the news one of these days, and compare how many Muslims are killed by other Muslims in Iraq or Afghanistan or Pakistan to how many Jews or Palestinians are killed. Christians who behave badly can say "the Devil made me do it"; Muslims can say "Israel made me do it".
Hebrew. Mostly used for things that normally come in twos; hands, feet, trousers, glasses, etc. Also time; times (twice), hours, days, weeks, months, years, but not minutes or moments or seconds. The suffix form is taken from the "counting" form of the word for two.
There is a another plural form altogether for when the noun has an adjective modifier, such as sunglasses, which applies to all nouns; bathing suits, etc. This is taken from the "adjective" form of the word for two.
Legally you're supposed to report and pay taxes on exchange of anything of any value. Order something online and don't pay a sales tax? Drive across the state line to buy something in the neighboring state which does not have a sales tax? You're supposed to report that and pay a "use tax" equal to the local sales tax on it. Get an annual gift package from your employer? Get restaurant vouchers for lunch from your employer? A leased car? Their value has to be included in your income taxes.
So if somebody has possession of the pictures my own father took of my abuse at his hands, that won't harm me? I've spent my whole life with that niggling worry at the back of my mind... what if somebody posts those on the Internet? What if they mail them to somebody I would really prefer not know about this? What if they pass me in the street, or see a current perfectly innocent picture of me somewhere, a news photo or something, and recognize me? For every bit of child porn out there, there is the victim with this threat of further abuse hanging over their head.
I was called in to help an elderly couple learn how to use their new computer. I looked at their receipt, and (as expected) Windows and Office were not listed. They went to their spiritual counselor, who told them using "pirated" software was not a good thing. So they went to the shop and bought Windows. But when I mentioned that their Office installation was still not legal, they balked at paying for that. Nor were they willing to have it removed.
We might also consider the difference between lightly armed civilians attempting to fight armies armed with horses and muskets and swords, and these same civilians attempting to fight armies armed with tanks, jets and helicopters and modern mass killing weapons.
When your whole neighborhood can be flattened with one rocket, it's kind of hard to do much. I seem to recall reports of our late unlamented friend Saddam using chemical weapons against rebels. How do you fight against that kind of thing being used against your wives and kids?
Please let me know when you get behind the wheel so I can make sure to get off the road. The fool who assures himself that he drives just as well when he's been drinking is the most dangerous fool on the road.
Yes, and I have seen quite a number of the kids of these wealthy families involved in robberies and gang rapes and the like, and the vast majority of poor people I have known were very strong in their morality and passed on those moral values to their children.
I would suspect that a selfish sense of entitlement (whether picked up from being a totally spoiled rich kid denied nothing, or a poor kid being told incessantly that he deserves more) is more at the root of much criminal behavior.
I know it was the case with my family. We were just above the poverty line, and all of my kids were just fine until the school started in with a psychologist coming around once a week to tell the first-graders that they had rights, they were entitled to make their own choices as to what they wanted to do or not do, they were wonderful, they were "a prince" etc etc. They were also told not to tell their parents about these sessions. Immediately my youngest became an unmanageable brat, doing whatever he pleased and defying all attempts at control by anyone, ironically including school authorities. He ended up fleeing the state and an arrest warrant within a week of his 18th birthday, and within a year landed in a Texas prison anyway. That (he says) made him realize that he actually couldn't just do as he pleased, and today he's holding down a good job (after he got rid of his blue mohawk; he's still something of a rebel but has learned that there are limits), got his high school equivalency, and has a wife and family doing quite well. How much better it would have been if he hadn't been filled with that crap at such a young age, and wasted nearly twenty years of his life in robbery, drugs, and indiscriminate sex. It's lucky he didn't end up with HIV or get killed, although he was shot at a couple of times.
On a side note, I ran into the psychologist outside of the school environment once, and he took me aside to tell me that he didn't agree with what he was teaching the kids himself, but it was his job so he had to teach what they told him.
"quite a few people do it every day". Hm. Seems to me that quite a few people have accidents every day too. Maybe a few less distractions and a bit more paying attention to the road would reduce those accidents? Why do you suppose buses instituted the rule about not talking to the driver so many years ago? I am constantly amazed at the general acceptance of the highway carnage in the US as well as a lot of other places.
I had to laugh at this overgeneralized characterization! I'm sitting in a shabby flat with loose tiles on the floor, a leaky ceiling, cracked walls, in a living room empty except for a sofa that was given to me, using an iBook I paid for out of earnings from websites designed and developed on an ancient Compaq laptop. Oh, I have a cup of water on the floor next to the sofa. The sun is shining, the birds are singing in the tree outside the open window; life is good.
This is not looking for sympathy, I'm quite happy with my lifestyle, just poking at this perception of Mac users in general. I don't even like coffee, and only have the vaguest idea of what a latte is. But I do know computers. Almost 20 years experience of building, repairing, and programming PCs and AS/400 is why I've got a Mac even when I don't have a TV. Don't like TV, anyway. But I do use Firefox, mostly for Firebug.
Huh? My Firefox 2.0.0.12/Mac most certinly (certainly) does have built-in spell check. As far as I know, that's the latest stable version. (and I delibrately (deliberately) misspelled a word or two here just to make sure; they have a red dotted underline, and right-clicking gives me a context menu with the suggested correct spelling and an "Add to Dictionary" option)
One summer an orb spinner spider build her web above the porch stairs. I began feeding her when she and the bugs were small; I'd toss them into her web. Towards the end of summer, she was huge, no longer maintained her web, and she would come down from under the eves to the bottom of the matted mess that was left whenever I stepped on the stairs, waiting for me to toss her something, but not for anyone else.
What did bringing him in do to Amazon's stock? If it caused it to twitch even a little bit, they profited nicely out of the deal. He doesn't need to do anything at all afterwards.
This whole thing came up because one of the students left home to join the others; they were intending to go fight in some unspecified foreign country. The student's parents called the police to report him missing when he sneaked out. Investigating his disappearance uncovered the material. But then I read the article yesterday.
This happens in other markets as well. Some years ago my husband worked for Pfizer. Pfizer and most of the other big pharmaceuticals made penicillin. It wasn't exactly a large profit item, but a good seller. Then a European company started "dumping" and nobody else was willing to match their prices. So all the other pharmas quit making penicillin; most of them re-tooled their penicillin facilities to other products. Pfizer also quit making penicillin, but their equipment was so old they just left it sit. The European company misjudged and ended up going out of business. Suddenly there was no supply of penicillin. So for a couple of years, until some other companies got their penicillin facilities retooled back to making penicillin, Pfizer had the only world supply of penicillin, and could pretty much charge whatever they wanted.
So this sort of behavior is definitely not a good thing. Except for Pfizer there for a while, anyway.
"Medicinal nitroglycerin is chemically identical to the explosive, but it is safe because it is far more dilute than pure nitroglycerin, and is bound to other inert substances that disrupts its perfect oxygen balance."
It's also put in condoms to improve erectile function, as it's a vasodilator.

The CMS I've been using for three years now just uses a basic HTML page as a theme, you add simple tag-based elements such as [*pagetitle*] or [*content*] to get the dynamic content for each page requested. You can just copy any web page's source and replace the relevant text output sections with these dynamic tags, for everything from menus and login forms to complex AJAX data grid displays.

Of course, now you can get at least most of it on the Internet.

Considering that UNIX was developed to play a game on a pdp7, I'd say it doesn't much matter. It will grow.

Metal with a high level of slag is not a subtle flaw, but a major failure point.
Actually, how it's often used in Africa is to dump barrels of it in the river or lake, then go out and gather up all the dead fish.
