There is a big difference between a proprietary software and a proprietary format. If the format is open, you can chose which software to use to view it. Just look at Office and it's format: It is a massive factor in the dominance of the software. But Internet Explorer is a proprietary software rendering an open format, you can easily pick or even implement yourself a different reader. That's why there is a competition in the browser space, much more than in that for office software.
I know what I'll do this weekend anyway...:) I didn't play StarCraft that intensively, but somehow StarCraft II still managed to excite me. Although I do expect to get defeated repeatedly by people who had months of training in the beta already.
x264 is just software, you can't patent software.
H.264 (the format) is somehow under the control of the MPEG-LA though. Currently using it is free, but that will run out in the near future.
I bet you couldn't afford to pay life insurance for all the people who live under the flight path. So better shut up and stop endangering innocent people with your recklessness.
The Visa system is Visa's responsibility. I heard claims that it will fix itself due to the Power of the Free Market.
Unfortunately, silly laws like the DMCA are here to stay. They have been created after all with the Power of the Free Market (the best laws you can buy for money).
Apple's store only sells apps for iPhones. There are no other phones? Blackberies, Windows Mobile Phones, Android Phones all don't exist? Nokia's Linux Phones are just in legends?
You say Apple has the monopoly on WHAT? It's own store? Every manufacturer has the monopoly on his own products. I doubt the government wants to change that.
And since when is there an EDGE iPhone? I don't think there's something like that.
A virus scanner with out of date sigs is worthless. One with an out of date engine is worthless. Disabling it is more honest than patching it up to pretend to still work.
Who are you talking to? And why are you so angry? Could it be that you were one of the affected? Maybe you try to spread your failed responsibility by blaming other people for what you blame yourself?
May the seas be open and the winds be fortunate.
Although I can't help but wonder if the name "Pirate Party" for all the pirate parties isn't a bit too... daring. Maybe even misleading.
Do you have any real arguments or are you just throwing personal attacks at me? If you can't say anything useful, just shut up... (Hint: I know more about OpenCL than you do.)
But should you want to widen your limited horizon a bit, try to find an answer to the following questions: How can VLC and mplayer decode video so much better than the flash player, even though they have the same API access?
(Answer: They use more than just one CPU when playing back, and don't use a complete CPU when idleing.)
Why do people always come up with that ridiculous argument? Apple provides tones of low level frameworks such as Accelerate.framework, OpenCL.framework and similar[1]. What more could you want? Running as root to renice yourself? Come on...
The reason Flash sucks is because Adobe just doesn't care enough to make it not suck.

How's that anti-competitive? I have to buy a Windows PC to develop for the XBox too... It's just common sense that you have to have the platform your tools run on to use the tools.
I doubt there are many people in "dev base" who are affected by that. After all, for a long time, the mandated tools were the only ones that were able to create applications, so most of the developers are already using them.

Apple is presenting users with a false choice between Adobe's proprietary software and Apple's walled garden.
It is a real choice, but there are obviously more options to chose from than the enumerated two.
Hey! You forgot to count me!
I know what I'll do this weekend anyway... :) I didn't play StarCraft that intensively, but somehow StarCraft II still managed to excite me. Although I do expect to get defeated repeatedly by people who had months of training in the beta already.
They do.
I wonder how this would do in the fight against Piracy. It'd probably escalate the situation near the coast of somalia quite a bit though.
Like cellphones? So there are no cellphones in Israel?
-> it is free

Fucking Puritans
Amusing choice of adjectives.
The first word is a verb.
The Visa system is Visa's responsibility. I heard claims that it will fix itself due to the Power of the Free Market. Unfortunately, silly laws like the DMCA are here to stay. They have been created after all with the Power of the Free Market (the best laws you can buy for money).
What about bailouts? The free market can't provide that.

To me, bad publicity is the most likely reason.

Workstations SUCK big time without permanent external power supply. Also, their portability is questionable at best.
The vendor himself said it's not a security hole, so what could possibly happen? :)

Why? OS X didn't change.

Oh, this wolfram alpha is nice: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=MSFT+AAPL+employee It doesn't seem to get "user base" or similar though.
