I work at a museum where we have been running an adult program called MOSH After Dark (Museum of Science and History and yeah I know that sounds like a Cinemax show) for a few years now. Usually "adult level" topics but that ones that sell out that quickest are Home Brewing and How rum is made (you get to make your own rum flavors and get to have 1 liter of it) It's mostly 20 to 30's year olds and is very popular. Since I work in the plane arium I'm happy they don't have us run shows for them. Laser crowds are already halfway gone I can only image a totally buzzed entire theater. I'm sure our clean up staff would LOVE that.
If they had the technology to build Dyson Sphere they would also know that their parent star won't last forever making the build a complete waste of time and resources. As someone else stated if they follow Darwinian evolution and wanted to grow and spread out then they would simple leave their system for another one. Again if they had the tech to build it they could leave way easier and cheaper. (Time and resource wise)
Thank our CmdrTaco overlord. Slashdot introduced me to a unbelievable amount of time wast....information. I am not a programmer, coder whatever you call yourself but have benefited from reading articles and even rants. So thanks!
I hope any of you who are against Lucas have never seen a remake/reboot or whatever you call them. If he wants to redo parts fine. It's his prerogative.Don't buy/see it. Sometimes the reboot/remake works (Battlestar Galatica) and sometimes they bomb (Day the Earth Stood Still). And those weren't made by the people who made the originals.
The real problem is that the mirror used to reflect the laser must be clean! Any little speck will act like a heatsink. How often do you hit a bug while driving? Now imagine driving at 1000 MPH ! You will collect dust, soot, smoke, whatever your flying through. So even if you did mirror it. It would not help.
Go to your local planetarium. Multimedia out the butt! I program lasers shows
at our local one. Lots of different types of
media used even in astronomy shows.
Dark Side or Far Side?
on
Nuke The Moon

· Score: 1
"There is no dark side of the moon as a matter of fact its all dark." The moon always faces us with the same side. its orbit is equal to is rotation. So the Dark side of the moon can be the side that faces the earth.(i.e. new moon) while the far side is in "full moon" mode. I have no idea why this matters to me other than i work to many hours this week (planetarium lackey that i am)
Could it be that people using Napster are previewing songs from a CD that they want then find out that it sucks and is not worth paying $16-$20? Could that be why sales are down? Maybe this will help put an end to the trend of "one hit wonders".
Maybe we should all start playing pong again...There's a game that causes violence! Waiting the little pixel to bounce back and forth....AHHHHH! I always have to remember that I am a human after playing AVP for a few hours.
If only there were some way they could WATCH their employees remotely......any ideas anyone?
The Universe is just becoming more energy efficient! Think Earth Hour but on a universal scale
I,for one, welcome our new spider overlords.
How did a "news for nerds" poster fuck that up? I work in a planetarium, so I get asked this question daily.

can't wait to see for the BSOD on that.
So if you say he's dead that makes it more official? I've got a feeling you're not as important as you think you are...
Hey Drew! Hope to see you when we host SEPA in Jax 2013!
a good time to go out and support your local planetarium, science museum and/or local astronomy groups. (Yes, I work at a planetarium)
Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.

Notice this problem only happens to some and not all users? Those affected are not going to able to join Jobs on the Arks when 2012 gets here!
We get Marty McFly to go back in time in Doc Brown's Delorian........oh crap......wrong Doc!
