    A knife is, for the most part, useless against someone who has a firearm, and against multiple attackers (unless you are already tough and well-trained).

    There exists no valid argument against people carrying guns for self-defense.

    Good. Hopefully one day they will succeed in completely disarming America. All guns SHOULD be illegal for anybody to own or use. There is absolutely no need for them and many problems would be eliminated without them around.

    Why do you oppose self-defense?

    No such thing has happened, it is a figment of the collective leftist-liberal imagination. Muslims continue to be treated with silk gloves and it is difficult to find anyone who is critical of them.

    To me it sounds like... a forum. Just an ordinary forum.

    Is it suprising that BioWare is apparently re-inventing the wheel? No, because in another BioWare interview they talked about inventing adventure games. I mean what they were describing was simply an adventure game, but they were making it seem like some totally new concept.

    I don't know what their problem is.

    Let's face it; the golden age of PC gaming is over. It peaked with games like Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights, when you could buy one game and with the community built around it end up with fifty games' worth of extra content.

    Neither Morrowind nor NWN can match the modding capabilities of FPS games. Also, NWN was pretty lame as a game.

    Things like work life balance, 9-5, utility bills, banking rules, corporate hierarchy, living to work, etc will never work for anyone with higher cognitive function.

    Being a slacker doesn't make you smart.

    Being a drone does not advance society.

    Society isn't run by a tiny group of smart people. It takes an army of "drones" to keep everything running.

    I, myself, am in a perpetual and permanent state of mild depression. Or maybe melancholia would be a better description.

    What is the difference between those two hugely mismatched sides?

    One side is not afraid to die, the other - is very much afraid of it.

    One person loves his death, the only future event one can be 100% sure event, and his enemy loves his short pathetic life the most.

    The terrorists are winning because they have more popular support than the US military (read: the country is filled with insane and backwards religious fanatics who think living in the stone age and raping children is the hip thing to do), which is perfectly able yet unwilling to turn the entire country into a parking lot in order to kill the terrorists. Meanwhile, the terrorists don't give a shit about collateral damage, infrastructure or even their own forces, and they have an infinite supply of crazed fanatics to use as cannon fodder. The US is trying to turn Afghanistan into a respectable and modern nation without killing everyone, but this is impossible since it does not with to be a respectable and modern nation. That's why the US is losing.

    It's no wonder Muslims have never accomplished anything since they're too busy killing themselves and everyone else.

    May Allah give victory to the Mujahedeen. Ameen.

    I'm sure Allah wouldn't want you to use an infidel site like Slashdot. So maybe you should just fuck off and go somewhere else.

    Maybe it's me or maybe it's the RP server where I used to play. But "stuff & level" means jack shit. I guess it's like real life, kids and dump people value material stuff, while other value the meaning of actions and words.

    Yes, surely anyone who collects items in a computer roleplaying game must be a dumb kid! What sound logic! I'm going to go play through Baldur's Gate II right now with a naked and unarmed Fighter just to show everyone what a smart adult I am.

    Take a look at human history. Plenty of occasions where one group ran into another group that was at least as advanced, if not more advanced than itself... And dismissed them as inhuman or savage just because they looked a little different.

    That was then, this is now. And this is an alien civilization we're talking about.

    Pick up a newspaper sometime, or watch your evening news, or fire up a reputable web page. The "message" of the movie is obviously one that a large portion of this planet's population hasn't gotten yet.

    The movie is preaching to the choir.

    The aliens are given a derogatory name... They're assumed to be lazy, unmotivated, unintelligent... They're crammed into slums... They're the target of much fear, prejudice, violence, and hatred... They're exploited in every way possible... They're treated as nothing more than livestock or animals... Any of this sounding familiar?

    District 9 sounds like it's an incredibly stupid movie. Aliens land on Earth and everyone just goes "hurrr space niggers" and dump them into a ghetto? Yeah, it's not like contact with an alien civilization is a big deal or anything. And obviously a species capable of interstellar travel must be really unintelligent too. And no worries if Earth gets into a war with said species, I guess we'll just send Jack Bauer to deal with them!

    The "message" of the movie is also banal and very, very redundant.

    The most common one involves getting attacked by monsters that you can't attack and they are invisible (odds are they're stuck in some piece of terrain nearby). The only way to deal with it is to flee.

    This happened to me once in Stonetalon. There was an invisible mob that instakilled my level ~20 character, and I could not avoid it. When I went there with my high level character, I couldn't find the mob anywhere, or even target it. The mob's real location is apparently somewhere in Auberdine, and when I went there to investigate it was nowhere to be seen.

    That was even more weird than the time when fish came out of the water and attacked me on land.
