True for VHS tapes. Not true for DVDs. The studios and rental outfits made a deal with tape. Tapes were sold at high prices to rental stores and the stores kicked money back to the studios on each rental. DVDs cost the stores the same (or less) as you pay at BestBuy. Therefore, for Blockbuster, the margins on DVDs are immensely greater than on tape. That is why Bloackbuster will shift to DVDs as fast as it can.
1. I can rent a DVD for $3 and watch it anytime over the next 2-5 days.
2. I can buy the DVD for $15 and watch it as many times as I want over the next few years. And, I can lend it my friends and they can watch it. And, they can lend me some of their DVDs.
3. I can pay $unknown and watch a FlexPlay DVD over the next 2 days. And then it self-destructs.
4. Therefore, $unknown must be less than $3 for me to have ANY interest in this stupid concept.
5. Only people who buy government-run lottery tickets will go for this. The scary part is that is a large percentage of the populace.
We bought an answering machine 5 years ago. We told all our friends that we do NOT pick up the phone until we her their voice. Everyone understands the rules (even my 80 year old parents). Every few days we clean out the "blank" messages on the machine.

"Platypus Technology has designed a range of storage innovations that free applications from the bottlenecks caused by hard drives.
You can run mission critical files from silicon, rather from rotating platters".
The design appears to be quite nice.
The price appears to be outrageous.

"Platypus QikDRIVE8 1GB
1GB PCI solid state hard drive card for PC and Mac workstations and servers $3229."
Exactly!
Put a manilla folder on your physical desk and label it "Tuesday".
Put tasks in it that you can do from/at home.
For example: expense reports, writing a report, writing a marketing plan, writing documentation (don't hate that).
Take the folder home on Monday night and work 10 solid hours on the tasks.
Come in on Wednesday and show how productive you were.
Soon, you will have 2 folders: Tuesday and Thursday.
You are allowed to have a Wednesday folder, but forget Monday and Friday. Everyone will think you are goofing off.
Another suggestion is to come in on Friday's at 0530 and depart at 1430. Helps with the commute and you are still THERE on Fridays.
I own 2 custom-built PCs using Colorcase's Yuri case. This "100% aluminum" and plastic case is fabulous. No screws needed to open it up. No sharp corners inside.
Looks cool, runs cool with Athlon 900MHz and Enermax dual-fan power supply.
Runs very quiet.
I love it.
1. I hate the MS juggernaut.
2. I really want Netscape (in spite of the fact that the evil Steve Case owns it) to offer a viable alternative to IE.
3. Netscape 6 is awful.
4. I am the webmaster for nsia.org
The site works with IE 4+
The site works with NN 4.75
It does NOT work with N6. I don't know why and I don't care. Whether it is problems with layers or images maps. I don't care.
5. I love the Java applets from OpenCube.com
They have a new one out called Dynamic Image Menu. They say: works with IE. Yes. it does. It sort of works with NN 4.75. It doesn;t even LOAD with N6.
6. I really want N6 to succeed. But, this is ridiculous. Two sites. Two failures.
7. I give up.,dave
And FuckedCompany.com had this on May 16th. Five days ago!

I hope that you really meant to talk about crêpes and not crepes. As the former is the correct word for thin pancakes and the latter does not exist.
