Correct. Remove the incentive. For example, I don't download movies. If I want to watch it once, then Netflix delivers that for about $1.80. High quality DVD. If I want to buy it, then Target, Walmart, Best Buy, etc. sell movies (DVDs) for under $10. For example, the new Dixie Chicks CD (with 14 songs, 1+ hour of music) is available from Amazon.com for under $10. We bought it. For example, we do buy from AllofMP3.com and not iTunes Music Store because those nice RUssina boys sell music encoded at 320 kbps and Apple only sells it at 128. We buy from the Russians because the quality is much better.,dave
Netflix and Blockbuster better be paying attention to McDonalds (http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/archive/index.php/t- 365864.html). My local McDonalds has a kiosk that lets you rent DVDs for $1/day. I have read that it is very popular. Now, it won't satisfy you SlashDot readers who want to rent Tron, but the selection is probably "good enough" for 50% of the popluation. Personally, I think this a much larger threat to Blockbuster than NetFlix. So, either way, Blockbuster is dead. Killed by NetFLix or McDonalds.,dave
So, "8 million readers" have read this post and the amount is under $5K. Pathetic. If everyone coughed up $10, the total would be way more than a lousy $5K.,dave
I did. I became tired of having to learn about all the different components for the Windows PCs I built. So, I decided to let Steve Jobs do my thinking for me. Now, we own 4 Macs and one Windows PC.
I personally have spent many hours sitting in an Aeron chair since I bought mine in 1996. Yesterday, I calculated my hourly cost of sitting this chair and it came out to $0.044 USD per hour. Very afforable in my opinion.
My partner gave hers up after 5 years and got a Freedom chair which is way more comfortable.

What is not is that Gartner and other "offical" "expensive" pundits are a dying breed. Their "probabilities" are no more accurate than others about what will happen.
These are the pundits who, in 1985, said that only two operating systems would survive in 2000: MVS and VMS. Well, they got the MVS part right. Where is VMS today? Ask Carly and her minions at HP. All it proves is that Gartner is full of highly paid people who know no more about the future than you.,dave

I have purchased batteries from this wonderful store for over 3 years now.
Short answers: 1. Use alkaline batteries for devices that use a small amount of current over many months. For example, a wall clock. 2. Use NiMH batteries for high current drain devices such as: digital cameras. Or for devices that are easy to replace the batteries such as: cordless mouse, phone headset. 3. Use LiIon batteries for long standby time and moderate current drain such as mobile phones.

My reaction exactly. What is wrong with "negative" or "not positive"?

You choose the format and bit rate.
Totally legal in Russia.

A wonderful music download site (www.allofmp3.com) has this new album available for download in the format and bit rate of your choice.
Prices range from $0.03 to $0.30 USD per song.
So much for DRM attempts.

And, it is legal (in Russia).
P.S. My daughter (the 18 year old iPod junkie) thinks it is great.

I always carry a paper journal and small pair (get thru airport security) scissors and a Scotch® tape dispenser.
I write down words, draw illustrations, tape business cards and small brochures into it.
You can only do that with a paper journal.
And, it is not a computer.
I called AMEX to ask about this disposable number concept. Customer Service informed me that as of April 30, 2004, it is being discontinued.
So much for that payment option.
