Had the same idea as you. And since CH_4 + 2O_2 gives CO_2 + 2H_2O, pluggin the OLPCs in the cows a**holes would solve the problem of lack of water in desertic countries.

On mine, native resolution is 1400x1050. But DRI doesn't work with ubuntu and "snowy" parasites appears when moving windows around. I'm waiting for a better driver since this graphic card works perfectly with windows2k, shame to have to reboot to use blender:-( Other problems : cpu freq scaling doesn't work (always a 100% so it sucks the battery) and internal modem not recognized. Everything else works great !
Backward compatibility is allready developped and and integrated in the PS3, it is software so it doesn't cost anything now. Sony will spend more money to remove it and check if everything is ok after the removal than to keep it.
The removal of BC is not a technical choice, it is a (stupid) marketing decision.
Without BC, I won't buy a PS3. I waited one year for the price drop, wanted a BC PS3 to keep playing my big PS2 collection (don't want to keep the old PS2, can't stand to hook/unhook PS2/PS3/DVDplayer continuously, want an all in one system).
If a reasonnably priced PS3 can't play my old PS1/2 games, I will buy a cheaper XBOX360, there is no reason to stay with Sony now.
Objective C is a langage,.net a framework. You can compare Objective C to C sharp, Visual basic, managed C++ but you can't say Objective C is better or worse than.net !!!
Hardware support would be too low, on Apple machines, it is very hard do find compatible hardware (webcams, wi-fi cards,...) with up to date drivers. Apple would have to add code to make their os work with a bunch of motherboards, drive types, graphic cards... I remember installing NextStep 3.3 on a pentium machine in 1995, horrible memories...
Early adopter pay R&D costs, Pre-orderers pay marketing costs. Why do you pre-order games ? For a console ok, hardware is hard to make but for a disc media wich can be mass produced at nearly no cost, I don't see the point, never seen a shortage of a game lasting more than 2 days at release...
Main reason for meters is to make money. Ecological and traffic reasons are just excuses. Only poor people are discouraged, why would only rich people be allowed to pollute and jam traffic ?
Yes, but your PC was connected to a wall socket...

The abstract (didn't read tfa, sorry...) said "pixel quality graphics", nothing more. Keep quiet!
Dell C600... Did you manage to get accelerated graphics with the new Ubuntu ? I'm with the 7.04 version and can't use it in 1400x1080...
Recorate just my licence plates on the motorway would be sufficient for me...
I agree with you, Ballmer was too kind for having not said the woman her girl is too stupid to use Windows Vista.
How can you be sure that the Ubuntu packages weren't backdoored ?

But backward compatibility in software, now that it is allready implemented, has nothing to do with the PS3 cost!
How can you say it's just about killing, you didn't even play it ?!?
The wii console is inferior but it's controller is superior.
Yes, Apple released Darwin, but closed OpenStep :-(

Objective C is a langage, .net is a framework. You are comparing two different things. You could have an objective C compiler for the .net framework...

Manhunt 1 was a good game, how can you say Manhunt 2 is shit if you didn't play it ?
HD VMD is to Bluray and HDDVD what V2000 is to VHS and Beatmax

Hope you are not writing this comment from your office, else, you would have to shaft yourself...
MS Windows has this option for ages...
Ever heard of Xenix (Microsoft's port of unix in the early 80's) ?
