Why shifty ? Windows 3.1 was a collaborative multitasking (as opposed to prehemptive) graphical OS, with 16 bit segmented memory management. Windows home/office users switched to 32bit and prehemtive multitasking in 1995 with Windows 95, Mac users had to wait for Mac OSX.
I don't understant, on a movie shot at 24 frames per seconds, what is the difference if the hddvd/blueray player outputs it at 1080i at 48 fps or 1080p at 24 fps, the same amount of data will be received by the tv at the same rate ?
Back in the days, there was a version of OpenStep running ontop windows NT, Apple bought Next, so they have the code of this version. Since OSX is a port (ok, more than only a port) of OpenStep to macs, they could evolve similarly the NT version to run OSX apps ontop windows NT/2000/XP/vista...

gang bangn.
The use of large numbers of loosely coupled
programmers in an attempt to wedge a great many features into a
product in a short time. Though there have been memorable gang
bangs (e.g., that over-the-weekend assembler port mentioned in
Steven Levy's "Hackers"), most are perpetrated by large
companies trying to meet deadlines; the inevitable result is
enormous buggy masses of code entirely lacking in
orthogonality. When market-driven managers make a list of all
the features the competition has and assign one programmer to
implement each, the probability of maintaining a coherent (or even
functional) design goes infinitesimal. See also

Oh, forgot to say MacOS pre-X didn't had memory protection...
Yes, too bad they ported Opera mobile to the Nintendo DS and not the mini version...

Thanks for the info ! I'll give it a try.
In asm, you can modify the code on the fly, this is one of the reasons you can make asm code faster than c code, whatever the quality of the compiler.
My hand optimized code is always 20x faster than C, and I don't think my compiler nor c coding skills suck.

Any Linux live CD distribution wich uses this new method released ?
The Warcraft killer has to be huge (many many many servers) and free (no monthly fees). Why not a P2P application ?

We could feed a technical report to the computer and the output will be pure poetry, imagine Slashdot in verses !
If MS makes a Linux port for the XBox, this one will work on un-modshipped ones. Will Microsoft win the $100K price ?

Aren't NextDimensions limited to 12 bit color ?
OS X on a 1.25 GHz machine is slower than NextSTep 3.3 on my old 25 MHz NextStation (16 MB ram).
