    The science has to beakthrough the political barriers. They represent the biggest obstacle.

    If DSL was forced to fit inside the same 4000-hertz-wide telephone line as a dialup modem, it would be no faster than 56k...

    Ah, so that's why my torrents are only 5Kb/sec down...

    If it were profitable to exceed 56k over POTS, someone would have already done it.

    And I'm counting on these patent and copyright wars to get us to do just that. It's our only hope to help get people to see what's it's all about. So more of this is a very good thing. Patents and copyrights are the "sub-prime loans" of innovation, and the effect will be the same as the real ub-prime loans had on the economy. They give unqualified people way too much power.

    You would not have been able to say the same about Gore or Kerry.

    You don't know that at all. Maybe you weren't around when a democrat sent us into a war of independence in Vietnam. Also based on what turned out to be false information. And another thing, Gore had Lieberman on his ticket. A man every bit as bad as Cheney. And look at your patriot act there. Lieberman's name is all over it. When it comes to the middle east, Lieberman is just as hawkish as Israel's Lieberman (look him up). I am willing to bet he would have shown some real "shock and awe" if he had his chance. And Kerry? Please! After promising not to send our boys to die in a "senseless war", he would find a way to do just that, just like Johnson.
