    Speaking as a reformed record store clerk, the real reason CD single sales are down is because the labels 1) rarely release popular songs are singles anymore 2) if they do, they go out of print after 1-2 weeks.

    Yeah, dams are great, except they destroy the ecosystem up and down stream.

    As for Governor Davis, the words "Governor Davis" and "idealism" don't belong in the same paragraph, much less the same sentence. I think the words you're looking for are "spineless," "middle-of-the-road," and "Republican in Democrats' clothing."

    listen.com is a nifty directory that offers links to legal mp3s, both free and for sale. It's compiled by people, a la Yahoo, and most (if not all) artists are linked to similar artists.

    Worth a look, IMHO.

    This brings up a question: Is there an archive somewhere of older version of Napster? I recall there being something similar w/ Netscape.. I installed 2.0 beta on one machine, but didn't keep the archive file and now I want to install it on a different machine...

    Oops, just thought of something else to add.

    I would say Sting's brand is stronger than Sting.com's brand. And certainly Yahoo! is much more famous than Yahoo Serious. Yahoo Serious should have registered Yahoo while he had the chance. FWIW.

    Is there something I'm missing? Is Yahoo Serious suing Yahoo!? I don't see why he shouldn't have yahooserious.com, though I'm sure Yahoo! would squawk something fierce.

    That's the point, though. Sting, is for all intents and purposes, a brand name. Sting has build this name up for 20 years or so, and has a right (and some would say obligation) to preserve it.

    That said, I'm glad he lost the suit.

    (If I hear that "Desert Rose" song one more time...)
