Let me reiterate. Free speech/free thought are inseperable. Lets try a real world example. John does not trust the federal U.S. goverment, and is scared of it. He wants to send an email to his friend stating that he disagrees with the human rights violations the U.S. is commiting against jailed Al Quada prisoners. John fears that if the U.S. finds out he disagrees with the treatment will retaliate against him in some fashion, tax audit, arrest for a crime where they plant evidence, whatever. John does not send the email because of carnivore. This is fabricated example, but it should ilistrate how eavesdropping on email can violate free speech.
This is a violation of free speach. Free speach is inseperable from free thought. If I am not free to say 'I like/hate politician X', then my 'rights' to free thought are violated. Take the a country that oppreses politacal disidents (with this spelling I should be a/. editor!). If Mr. X was caught saying 'I disagree with the goverment' and is tortured for it, next time he will be less likely express his political views. In this case, just by being monitored, his free speach is being violated. Im not aware of anyone being tortured over carnivore eaves droppings yet, this is just an example. I believe the supreme court (sorry, no references to back myself up) has upheld that free speach protects and is insperable from free thought for the same reason I just cited.
When I worked for an outsource company we did tech support for a product called Rio JaMP3. That had an mp3 player, and believe it was a simple USB storage device for transfering. I could be wrong, its been a while since Ive worked with them but thats how I remember it. The price is also real low on them. bottom of page
I use to work for an outsource company, and the desk I worked on, most of us still hang out. We had enchilada wednesday that eventualy died, but we all still go to the 2600 suroot meetings. We usualy go to a movie afterwords, or to a members house and get drunk. Yesterday through tomorrow were having a thanksgiving party at said house. Weve become a closely knit group of friends, we have birthday partys etc. Like minds attract, not opposites.
We didnt vote for the chimp, the election was fixed. The electorial college effectivly assures that we have a 2 party system, democrats, and republicans creating a monarchy.
Could I sue for people posting the holy bable online?

Ive read this thread, and seen people erroniously refer to atheism as a belief, or religion. It is not. Plain and simply an atheist is someone who has found no compelling reason to have a god belief. It does not take faith (believing in or accepting something when you have no sound reason to) to not believe in something that has no merits. I do not believe in invisible pink unicorns. This is not because I dont have faith, its because I have not been presented with a reason to believe that they exist. The same goes for gods.

This isnt copyright protection, this is control of the digital contect of what you own. If they can lock it down, so they can control how and when you use media, then expect a lot of bad things. Prices skyrocketing, no more buying and owning cd's, only renting, or licensing them for a period of time. With digital media comes the ability to copy, but also the ability of corporations to control the contect in a way that is profitable for them.
