Got to agree with you here, and the chap earlier who talked about Loom.
The main problem with this article is that it appears to be written by people who have only played consoles. All the games mentioned in their Best Endings are console games (a few have been ported, sure). Where are the Day Of The Tentacles, the Commodore Amiga's Turrican?
And how much have they made in Gained Productivity by providing tools for people to generate complicated spreadsheets / print their own stationary / produce business winning presentations?
Not that MS are the only providers of this software, but you have to balance what inconveniences they cause against the benefits they have given.
How many times do you HAVE to read a manual to get a Windows installation to run?
If Linux really wants to make headway into the desktop/home PC market it needs to get to a point where you dont need to read manuals to install your software/hardware.
Trustic seem to have the correct attitude. It can be immensly frustrating to get listed incorrectly, wither by inheriting a Bad ip, or in some cases maliciousness of the blacklist runner.
This happened to a business aquantance and was effectivley held to ransom over the blacklist. The list owner charged a fee to remove IP addresses from the list that he maintained. Conflict of interests...?
Ladies play games differently to men, so maybe there are not enough games that cater to this difference.
I remember watching a program years ago which studied the sytes of gamplay of men and women. It wasn't exactly an extensive test but there was a difference.
For example, one of the games they used was one of the Super Mario games (can't remember which...) The men would run through the level making sure they killed all the enemies on route while women would run through the level avoiding any enemies they could if it meant an easier route through.
I know thats pretty basic but my misses certainly doesnt enjoy the mindless shoot-em up games.
My misses is more into Console games than the PC games. I've learnt the kind of game she enjoys now, so wheneever i buy a new system I get her one to go with it.
I dont think its a case of female gamers choosing to be in a minority. they choose to enjoy gaming, and hence that automatically puts thbem in the minority. I wonder how many female gamers take on a male moniker when playing online to avoid all the "A/S/L"-ing that always going on when someone called "Susie" joins a server.
Even if the films/shows are good in their own right people remember the original serties' with great fondness and nothing can live up to that memory.
Take Randall and Hopkirk Deceased for example. The original show was fab, and the remakes with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer were rahter less than fab.. However, I knew people who had never seen the original and actually liked the recent series.

Also, www.bbc.co.uk/cult have some new episodes in Flash format. One of which is the never aired episode written by Douglas Adams (the name of which temporarily espaces me) . The poarts I have seen so far are all very well voice acted and well worth checking out.
My vote has to go to Laser Squad Nemesis. Its the most fun you can have with Outlook Express. You get small turns, but each contains ten seconds of game action, and then you can meticulously plan your following turn. It has a good combination of tavtical play and all out shooting.
Anyone else tried ut here? If anyone wants to send me a challenge my Game Name is Robmonster.
Another BEM game I used to play was called Empire, back on my Amiga. The only problem was that I didnt have email then, so I had to save the turn file to a floppy, and pass it on to my game partner, It got terribly slow as you couldnt do a great deal in a single turn so you didnt feel like you were getting anywhere.
I wonder if its a case of driver bugs being used as features.
You know, a developer codes ther gfx engine to use a particular graphics feature, which looks fine. However, the way they have coded means that they utilising a bug in the driver that just happens to display correctly.
A little later the gfx driver people squash this bug, and now suddenly the game looks odd as it is no longer displaying correctly.
Something similar happened at a company i worked for whereby cosde that ran just fine before failed to compile on later versions as they had tightened up the compiler in a later version. We had to code it 'properly' to get the programs compiled.
I'm all for VR, just as long as we dont have to wear those great clunky headsets. I once p[layed one of the early VR games, the jet fighter one if anyone remembers.... The headset was SOOO heavy that it detracted from the game experience. However, as a taster of things to come it worked well.

The new MSN client is using a newer version of the conenction protocol. All MS are doing are disabling access for anything running an older protocol.
Trillian Pro already uses the new protocol so shouldnt be affected. (Not certain which version the free Trillian uses at the moment)
I dont think MS are out to block all third party applications regardless as this move is also blocking older versions of their own clients.
I am constantly surprised by how seriously some people take the Matrix movies.
You can always tell a true fan when they make up their own excuses for a films short-comings.
Didnt the article say that films 2 and 3 were shot on the same 240 day shoot?

I'm with the original poster on this one....

Mario Golf is good eh? Is that on the Gamecube?

Wow, what were the chances of one of my (many) typos still making contextual sense!!
Beedie-beedie-beedie... Hiya Buck!
Was Farscape really a remake of B7...?
I thought Farscape was absolutely awful.....
The trouble is, most remakes are a letdown.
Even if the films/shows are good in their own right people remember the original serties' with great fondness and nothing can live up to that memory.

I doubt it will ever be as good as we remember the Original being.
Its be like remaking Space 1999.

What are your favourite PBEM games?

The same can be said of CD-rom writer upgrades. who really cares that a 50 speed writer can finish a CD 30 seconds before a 30 speed writer?
Security through Obscurity is the reason that many people think that Linux distros are inherently more secure than MS.
If they ever invent a toilet door with password protection I'm sure those 100 seconds will come in VERY handy in an emergency.
Aaargh...
Could have sworn it happenind in regular PacMan. Time to crack out the MAME roms once more
Just as its not the new version of Windows that you are Kazaa-ing... ;)
I'm sure I've played a Pac-man machine where the maps changed after 3 levels or so.........
