The x86 AVD that comes with the SDK has its up and downs. Nice that it also supports gles2.0 etc. But it crashes a lot which makes it very difficult to use as a test/debug platform. For instance it crashes every time when the IME comes up for text input. In the system, in the API demos, ..

PPM (pulse position modulation) seems to be pretty resilient. Picking up mode-S transponder signals from planes as far away as 200km with a stock DVB-T antenna and a really cheap SDR (rtlsdr), which has very poor dynamic range. Even when the signal barely gets above the noise threshold.

Motion Carried. I haven't played on my 360 for years now. I went back to PC, and this cheap i5 box with a gforce gt 320 far outperforms MS and Sony consoles. And most important of all I don't have to pay up $60 for the same game, and can usually get them for $10 on Steam sale a few months later. I do however still play nintendo every now and then for their legacy games, like mario kart, zelda, etc..

Easy to checksum and verify the firmware binaries. You could also recompile and flash the new firmware yourself. I'd be more worried about obscure "bugs". As has been said above, going over the sourcecode, or generated machine language in case the toolchain is also to be untrusted, is much more work and more expensive than just reimplementing the whole darn thing from scratch with competent people.

For local news here in Belgium, google news lists headlines with summaries of different articles very often for instance. Often the articles it lists are all about the same event/news from different sources. I personally gave up on google news, since it is always lagging behind, and just doesn't have any added value over just going to the website of the local paper or news service. Same goes for international news for me.

My left elbow was dislocated and pointed backwards, the only thing holding my leg on was an artery, the vane, the nerve and the skin. The navigator died instantly upon ejection.
