I maintain a few dozen slackware boxes at work, and quite a few of our staff run slack at home, so I've been using rsync to maintain a copy of the latest rev + slackware-current. The problem is, SF seems to have stopped offerring rsync, and there are no rsync mirrors listed on the getslack page anymore. The main site is way too busy for reliable rsync, so i'd rather use a mirror...
I needed more spam to feed my bayesian for spamassassin, so I made a trap account and posted it in a bunch of newsgroups where I didn't care if I pissed the regular readers off (alt.'music'.brittneyspears for example)
my issue with the atkins diet is that you can't digest/burn protien as fast as carbs. IMHO, physical activity is still the key to being healthy. At my taekwondo school we have a few pretty hefty students, but I think they're way healthier than most of my relatively lean but totally inactive co-workers.
It's all well and good for sedentary people to use atkins as a way to lose fat, but does it really make you healthier, or just smaller?
Well, I'm behind a very solid firewall on all my net connections (mix of linux and checkpoint) but I have this one gaping hole: the VPN connection to the rest of the corporate network
Maybe they _should_ bring N'Sync back to ep3. If I knew I'd get to see them sliced up by SWK, I might actually pay to see it...
While we're on the subject (sort of) how many other guys thought that the best part of Titanic was seeing Leo drift down under the icy water? C'mon, admit it...
I still don't see how proprietary lock-ins to file format is better than PGP signing for ensuring that a document isn't changed. If I sign it, and you change it, the signature is invalid. What's the problem with this method?
since some of the mirror operators seem to be here, can they maybe explain why a 'security' tool doesn't offer MD5 or gpg verification files for it's iso...
They seem to have a script which offers to spamH^H^H^H^H send a newsletter to their mailing list. It requires a password, which appears to be given in http://pussy-hunter.net/cgi-bin/mail/password.txt
No, I haven't tested it, but I'm guessing that most of the addresses (like 'you-ve.been@slashdotted.punk') are fake...
rsync mirrors are in the swaret docs.
Of course, if you know of other ones not listed there, feel free to share here...

Anyone have any suggestions?
And if you're reading this Patrick, thanks.
the actual bandwidth usage of most codecs used with VoIP is very low.
Latency is the major issue, not bandwidth.
ya, like you need a horoscope to figure that out.
If it could tell me when the damn thing will be running properly, I'd be impressed...

well, maybe the prospect of being locked up with a 300 pound known murderer would keep a few people from spamming...
nothing else tried in the Good Ole USA(tm) has worked...

where?
That book was both more enjoyable and more thought-provoking than any
novel I remember having assigned in school...
Just make sure you get the right ATA. Could be unwise to piss off the higher-ups at the American Taekwondo Association :)
What irony?
If I never had to use windows again, i'd sure complain about it less...

Firewalling that is a bit more complicated...

well, for security reasons you may want to make some areas noexec, and/or nosuid (ie /tmp).
/home as a partition makes OS upgrades easier.
That's a good reason to make that a separate partition.
And having
I'm on a pile of mailing lists, mostly because i'd rather have the list archives available to search/order with mutt than online.
Spamassassin solves any spam issues I have, and I haven't had a false positive since I crossed the threshold and bayesian kicked in.
Why the hell should I add another avenue of information access, enough already...
Hah, I'll have my girlfriend using linux yet...

um, thanks for clearing that up...

it shouldn't be, if you have a reasonably intelligent switch.
from a linux box:
$ ping [rogue DHCP server IP]
$ arp [rogue DHCP server IP]
from your switch (spelling may be different, this is a catalyst 4000)
> show cam [rogue DHCP server mac]
this'll give you the port it's on, and since you know which ports go to which wallplugs (right?) you know which user to torment...
Or you could switch to an install that doesn't have DHCP on by default...
Hmm, don't mind me while I keep using a software solution...
/home on my laptop. Otherwise you're SOL...
: //loop-aes.sourceforge.net/loop-AES.README - see example 4
Loop-AES is trivially ease to set up under linux,
and you can have it require a GPG key etc that live on a USB keychain.
If you have my keychain, and you know the password, you can mount

2 thoughts:
1) don't let your browser report your real email address (if you're on windows, this may require using a non-IE browser)
2) Spamassassin is your friend...
The simplicity and ease-of-management of slackware has freed me for important things like
playing RTCW ET, and reading Slashdot.
Thanks Patrick!
