    I seem to recall that every breed of domesticated dog (canis lupus familiaris) can be genetically traced back to wolves (canis lupus).

    I am often amazed at how well they read my expressions, moods, commands. I swear they think they are running the household... maybe they are: they stay home all day and eat and play, while I go to work and go out to buy them food.

    Solidity can be ascertained remotely? Density is a fairly easy metric to obtain. That alone gives a fairly good indication of solidity.

    Wouldn't it just be better to smack into one side of the asteroid at full speed rather than use a bunch of energy to get to the asteroid, a bunch more to slow down and rendezvous, then use little puffs of energy to try and modify its orbit?

    Seems to me that all that reaction mass would be much better served by hitting the rock traveling at 4X,000 MPH.

    Well, had you been keeping up with events, you would know that the cuts are basically across the board, not just focused on R&D.

    The entire concept was a blunt instrument that was meant to be too draconian and indiscriminate to even consider going into effect. Well, we see how that worked.
